Safety, trust & environment

I have an extensive background in training and working with dogs in all environments. I have worked with dogs of varying skill levels, including untrained and "stranger danger" dogs. No matter the layout or size of a home, my goal is always to set your dogs up for success. The safety of your pets will always be my first priority.

Information Alexia M. would like to know about your pet

I would like to have proof of vaccination for any pets I interact with. I do not have any breed preferences! I also have experience with dogs with behavioral conflicts, so I am willing to work with all pups, so long as that information is given beforehand and expectations are discussed.

A typical day

As a caretaker, my goals are always focused on safety and comfort. I understand that every kiddo is different, so what we do is largely up to them (within reason, of course)! That means, if they feel more comfortable playing in a backyard than at a park, we will make your home their park! If your pup has lots of energy, we can go on hikes or work on some training exercises. I'm a big fan of the classic canine favorites- fetch, walks, etc. Additionally, enrichment and mental stimulation are just as important to me as physical exertion, so I love to make games into opportunities for behavioral improvement as well. Essentially, the goal is to make sure your fur baby is getting the love and attention it needs in order to have a successful, fun, and safe stay with me!

Pet care experience

Hi, my name is Alexia and I'm here because, like you, top quality pet care is my priority! I grew up around animals, and have always been passionate about their well-being. While my long term goals are more focused on conservation, I've found that dogs bring me back to my roots and give me such joy, and I hope to return that favor. I have a BS in Biology and Animal Behavior, Ecology & Conservation. In total, I have about 10 years of professional dog-related experience in various settings. I've also worked in a zoo, a veterinary clinic, a dairy farm, and on a horse farm. I have two years experience with dog boarding, and three years experience in dog daycares. I have also been employed as a dog bather, and can perform services such as nail trims and ear cleanings, among others. I have about five years experience in training and I am certified in pet first aid. In my free time, I love hiking and photography, and I'd love to take your kiddo(s) along for an adventure! I look forward to meeting you and your furry friends. :)

Alexia is so wonderful! We have used her twice now and will continue to do so. She is a great communicator and is liked even by our grumpy dog :). Highly recommend!

Alexia is amazing! She came and met our pups before her first visit with them. She sent photos, updates, and gave them lots of pets while we were gone :). She clearly loves animals but is also obviously super knowledgeable about their care, which is invaluable! She is trustworthy and kind, and we will absolutely use her again in the future. Would highly recommend if you want a kind, knowledgeable sitter who communicates well!

Alexia is wonderful! As my dog can be skittish, she met Riley first. She asked lots of questions about taking care of my dog, questions I hadn’t even thought of. Alexia was patient, attentive and loving. I would certainly have Alexia take care of my dog again.

Alexia has been a lifesaver! She loves dogs and is very honest & reliable. She has great insight into the care of a dog which is helpful and she's a great communicator. The dog loves her and gets very excited when she comes. We feel lucky to have found someone who cares as much about the dogs well being as we do.
