Woof, woof… Meow… Hola! I'm Alex, a passionate animal lover from Puerto Rico! I am excited to share with you my experience working with both pet & exotic animals these last 6 years! Past experience includes working at two doggy daycare facilities & my main career is as a Marine Mammal Trainer/ Animal Care Professional working with: Harbor Seals, California Sea Lions, & Bottlenose Dolphins. WOW, so much! The two doggy daycare facilities I worked at were: Canine Clubhouse in Mechanicsburg, PA & Walkers Pet Hotail in Murrysville, PA (east side of Pittsburgh). While working at Canine Clubhouse my primary role was a Taxi Driver! Early in the morning I would drive a Ford Transit & pick up dogs for daycare. Later in the afternoon, leading into the evening, I would drop off those dogs back to their owners. As an employee at Walkers Pet Hotail I was quickly promoted to Senior Kennel Tech because of my past experience working with dogs & caring for exotic animals. Daily responsibilities included: providing medication to boarding dogs & cats, overseeing playgroups among boarding & daycare dogs, training new staff members, cleaning animal kennels, updating supervisors on changes in animal behavior, & communicating with pet owners. The relationships I built with several dogs while working at this facility were unforgettable & they hold a special place in my heart. Currently I am an Animal Care Specialist working at Six Flags Great Adventure & Safari in Jackson, NJ! Some of the animals I care for are: California Sea Lions, Parrots, Tortoises, Coatis (very cute South American animals), Alligators & Goats! My first job as an Apprentice Marine Mammal Trainer was at Hersheypark with a company called Oceans of Fun. There I provided medical care & training for 2 Atlantic Harbor Seals & 2 California Sea lions. Additionally, I participated in daily shows, daily cleaning of habitats & food preparation, daily water quality tests & record keeping. The same responsibilities performed at Hersheypark are performed at Six Flags Great Adventure. My full time career is working with exotic animals but I can't stay away from my furry favorites which is why I signed up with Rover! My experience greatly qualifies me for this job. I have experience interacting & working with all types of dogs & cats (those who are fearful, have higher anxiety, a little aggressive, high & low energy, the sweetest fur friends). I have encountered all types of harnesses & guidelines pet owners have for their pets.
