Pet care experience
Hello! My name is Alex and I am currently a registered nurse. I moved to Fort Myers 2 years ago, but I am originally from Virginia. I love all animals but specifically, I have a real warm appreciation for dogs. Back in Virginia, my mother is a certified dog trainer and started her own dog training/boarding company so we had many different breeds at our house 24/7 and I loved every moment of it! I have learned many training tips from my mom, and ever since I moved to Florida I miss the comfort of having pups around which is why I joined Rover. I consider myself a person whose not only affectionate but very trustworthy, energetic, friendly, professional and reliable. These characteristics led me to my nursing career. My schedule is flexible and I can provide my own transportation. If you need to reach me, texting is the best way to contact me. I promise to take care of your dog as if it was my own. It is no surprise that humans can relate to the quote - "a dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than they love themself."

I live in an apartment with my boyfriend and we have hosted many dogs before. We do not own any pets but love caring for others in our home. Our apartment complex is very dog friendly and has a dog park. I usually take the dogs out in the big field in the middle of our complex to let them do their business, and will take them to the dog park as well. For safety purposes and to keep your dog safe, I do not go to the dog park if there are other dogs there. In addition with safety, I also do not host dogs from different owners at the same time. My walks are done around our apartment complex - it is pretty large so I usually do a couple loops around. If your dog is used to longer walks and if they are good on leash I also do a couple long-mile walks outside my complex on the sidewalk away from traffic.

Please let me know if your pet has any additional needs. For example, if your dog doesn't get along with children or has a temperament that is something I would like to know ahead of time. If your dog requires certain medications to be given that is another thing I can do. I am self aware of how certain dogs require accommodations - I know senior dogs and breeds like brachycephalic dogs (bulldogs/pugs/frenchies etc) aren't equipped to being in the heat for long, so smaller walks would be noted. I have also watched puppies - and yes I am aware they are like little human babies - so I am used to taking them out to potty frequently and its no sweat if they have an accident in my apartment!
A typical day
I believe dogs are like humans and need to be stimulated physically and mentally in order to be happy. I am a firm believer that a happy dog means they are moving a lot, which is why frequent outside play will be apart of our day! I also love to give your fur baby downtime by cuddling with them on my couch (especially on rainy days), or entertaining them with dog toys. No matter the activity, your dog will be monitored 24/7 and I am open to sending pictures throughout the day.

Availability
I only work 3 times a week at the hospital, so I am available on the other 4 days a week I have off. My schedule for work is different every week so the best way to know which days I am available is to look at my calendar.
