Pet care experience
I love taking care of dogs and cats of all breeds. It's interesting to me to see the different personalities that they have and the ability to bond with them in many ways. I love taking dogs for walks and giving them my undivided attention to make their hearts content. I like dog and cat sitting in the clients own home so they feel safe and comfortable with the familiarity of their surroundings. I have watched over a wide variety of temperaments from really anxious dogs and cats to friendly dogs and cats. I read body language before doing anything that involves me you petting/touching or playing with a pet. I have 12 years of professional experience working with a variety of breeds and sizes of dogs but about 19 years in taking care of my own personal dogs and most recently about 5 years of experience with cats. Animals have always been passion so caring for them has come naturally to me. I treat every pet with the love, patience, and respect that I give to my own dogs and cat. I have previous experience working with exotic animals at the Zoo for 2.5 years and am currently working at a small vet clinic that services dogs and cats exclusively.

Alexandra was very accommodating and took great care of my two cats :)
Alex was great with our cat while we were travelling! While we were gone, she got our normally distraught kitty to play so much and even take treats from her hand! I was impressed. And we came home to a much happier cat than usual. She even stepped in at the last minute for an extra day for us when travel plans became delayed. Thanks so much, Alex! I will definitely be using her again if possible!

I care for the pets depending on the information that clients give me about their pet’s likes and dislikes. I also read body language to ensure that petting or anything like that is okay with the pet. When walking in through a front door I always open cautiously and with my foot in the way for pets that are known to bolt out the door.

I would like to know the personality and temperament of the dog/cat before sitting them and what their likes and dislikes are. I don’t have any breed preferences because they are all so unique and different in every way.
A typical day
With dogs that I sit for, I like to play with whatever toys that they have, I give lots of scratches and pets. I also like to give treats when owner says it’s okay to give some of their treats. When walking a dog, depending on temperature, I like to make sure the stay cool in the summer and warm enough in the winter. If there is a park nearby, I like to take them to parks so they can get all the smells in.

I currently work full time at a small animal vet clinic Tuesday-Friday with varying hours. I can make time throughout the day to care for pets as my schedule is flexible. I can work with clients to make timing work for me to watch over their pet(s)
