Pet care experience
I have owned a dog my whole life, and have worked at a major animal shelter as an animal caregiver for 5 years with 2 additional years of veterinary assistant experience. I've worked with over a dozen species of pets, and all different breeds of dogs, cats and more! My goal in life is to make the world a better place for animals and the people that love them.

Safety, trust & environment
My pet dog is sadly not friendly with other dogs, so I am not offering boarding at my house at this time. However when meeting your pet I will take all precautions to keep them safe and happy, as well as to establish a trusting relationship with them so they do not feel afraid of me. I carry poop bags and treats with me at all times to reward good behavior, and practice safe handling techniques with all pets. I do NOT believe in the use of choke-chains, prong collars or shock collars, and will not use such inhumane tools with any pet.
Information Alexander W. would like to know about your pet
I would love to meet you and your dog ahead of time to discuss these in person, but the following are very important for me to know about any dog I handle: Any food or environmental allergies Any recent surgeries Most recent vaccines against Distemper/Parvo, Rabies and Bordetella A high prey-drive towards smaller animals Any fearful or stressed behaviors they have exhibited in the past, and how to avoid them.
A typical day
Every animal is unique, and has unique needs. I strive to identify what activities meet the needs of each individual animal, be it long strenuous walks or short, frequent potty breaks. My go-to dog walking spots include Lake Needwood, Sugarloaf Mountain, and the C&O canal. Some dogs take a while to tolerate strangers, and in those cases I try to go at a pace that suits the dog's needs, as I want to establish a trustworthy relationship with every animal. In those cases we may just spend time in the yard getting to know each-other and practicing some tricks your dog may already know (with treat rewards of course!).
