Pet care experience
I am a former elementary school teacher currently working part-time as a dog walker and kitty sitter for a local small business in the Twin Cities. I have taken care of animals since I was 14 years old. I have always been an advocate for animals, and believe I get more love and affection from them than I will ever be able to give. I benefit from talking to the animals I care for, and am getting better at listening to them every day.
Reviews
Dogs were apart of the family that Alex grew home up in, and they continue to be. Tho he doesn’t own one at this time, he is still quite involved with dogs. Wether it’s walking other people’s pups through rain or shine, greeting with matched gusto our dog when he enters our home for a visit or helping friends with their canines when needed, Alex is always ready to engage with and have fun with them. Presently he is busy walking various breeds, and he has shared with me the personality and antics of each dog he interacts with. He is observant of their needs, and monitors and adjusts to those needs. When playing, scratching and talking with dogs you can see that dogs know that Alex understand them, and they are drawn to him. Alex is truly a dog whisperer!
I highly recommend Alex for the dog walking job with Rover. He frequently visits us and our Bichon(Teddy) loves being with him.He loves to bring Alex his toys so he can interact with him and licks him all the time. When Teddy licks someone,it means he really likes them. He’s also a favorite of my son’s Chocolate lab named Maple.Maple often jumps on his lap to cuddle with Alex.He is also very dependable and can be counted on whenever my son or I ask him to care for the dogs. Sincerely, Bill Tapper (Alex’s Uncle)
Alex takes great care of Maple (my 2.5 year lab) when I'm away. He's always prompt in his responses to my requests. He's walked Maple both when I'm working from home or working out of the house. Always sends me pictures of the walk, which I love to see. When I'm working from home, Maple immediately perks up when he walks in the door, she took a friendly disposition towards him after the first walk. He's the first guy I go to when I think about having someone take care for Maple!

Skills
Safety, trust & environment
It’s all about trust. Building trust with animals is paramount, ensuring they know they are safe and loved. My experience teaching and caring for young children translates to pet care. Building trust between myself and animal moms and dads is equally important. Compassion, empathy, reliability, and organization are strengths of mine that help establish and maintain trust. I use secure stretch leashes, a walking belt, carry natural detergent spray for other people’s animals, and only pull in extreme cases to ensure animal safety.
Information Alexander T. would like to know about your pet
Any information you can provide about routines, behavior, and needs is always helpful. I have been walking dogs who are arthritic, blind, deaf, skeptical of people and other dogs, etc. With the dog flu going around I make sure to avoid contact with other animals.
A typical day
I primarily walk dogs in the neighborhood on sidewalks. As the weather gets warmer we take visits to dog parks or walking paths around lakes and rivers. I also play with pooches in the backyard, usually with toys and balls. One of our favorites is keep away!
