I've owned a Menagerie!
Pet care experience
I originally come from the sunny (and blazing hot) state of Florida! I moved to the greater NYC area in 2014 to pursue a career in the performing arts and I live with my husband in a lovely and charming 1920's apartment building. I've been around so many kinds of animals my whole life. You name it, I have probably owned it as a pet or spent months with them! Some of the pets I've owned include: lizards, cats, dogs, fish, rabbits, ferrets, birds, mice, hamsters and more! I also love cats, but can't own or board due to my husband's allergies - so I get my fix by sharing a little love to strays and taking care of my neighbors furry families! My favorite kinds of dogs are mixes of pit bulls and labs. My husband really loves beagles and hounds.
Reviews
Alexa took great care of Vit! And she was very flexible when we had to delay the pick up.
Alexa was very good with our fur baby he 12 yrs old And quite energetic. She kept us informed throughout His stay and I find that important.
It was my first time leaving my baby with someone and Alexa made the journey so reliable and comfortable! My girl is not an easy dog and she was at home, we could see at the pictures that she was comfortable and doing all the things she does with us.
My dog hasn't stayed with anyone outside my family in several years and can be a bit anxious, but Alexa took great care of him. I will definitely book with her again in the future.

I require meet and greets with new clients before all stays to ensure the pup would be comfortable in my home. During that time we discuss what your pup needs and what we are able to provide. Feel free to ask any questions!

Information Alexa H. would like to know about your pet
Separation Anxiety: Please let me know if the dog has separation anxiety and what that looks like (i.e. are they destructive or do they cry for hours on end). Also let me know what behaviors are normal for them in a new setting (i.e. doesn't eat much, isn't active/is very active, etc.). If your dog barks or howls excessively - unfortunately our neighbors will not tolerate it and will complain to our building management. Crated or Free Range: If your dog is used to being crated, please bring it! Let me know if the animal can be left alone to freely range or if they need to be crated. I have doggy gates available if need be. Items from Home: PLEASE REMEMBER to bring toys and comfort items from home. New environments can be stressful, ease your dog into a new space by bringing items that remind them of home. Favorite toys, bones, beds, etc. Traveling (Pick up/Drop off): Please note that there is a charge for transport and if you live outside 7 mile radius, it will cost you about one night's stay for pick up/drop off. House Trained: At this time, I cannot board dogs that are not house trained.
A typical day
We typically just walk around the neighborhood and play and cuddle in the house. I'm not a big fan of dog parks as I find my guests to be very nervous in those environments when they are away from their families. I also find other dogs off leash to be unpredictable.
Services

Alexa can watch in your home
Availability
I'm in theatre so my schedule can vary from season to season, but someone is almost always home with our furry friends. We try very hard to make sure they feel loved, socialized, and engaged while here (unless they'd rather just lay around haha).
