Pet care experience
I'm currently a grad student at the University of Calgary and will be here until the middle of December 2021. I have extensive experience taking care of large, reactive dogs as my current dog is a great Pyrenees (who I miss a ton as I couldn't bring her with me for the semester!). I have had large and small dogs as well as cats and I train using only positive reinforcement methods. I'm happy to continue the current training program you are using and would be glad to help out with your young or old puppies! I'm missing my dog so much and would love to take care of yours as a fill in for the semester. I can guarantee your dog will get the level of care you would give to your dog if you decide to choose me!

Alex is so lovely to work with. She walked our dog 2x/week. She was always punctual, kind, and excited to see Willow. Willow grew to anticipate her walks with Alex, and enjoyed them so much. Alex was excellent at communicating and adjustments to time, and was also accomdating to changes on our end. We would absolutely hire Alex again to Walk and care for Willow!! We will miss you!!
Alex stayed at our house for a week, looking after our 2 large dogs and 1 cat, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her! It was immediately apparent that she is a natural with animals and my dogs clearly loved her. Her communication was excellent and we got photos every day. They even got to go on a fun outing to the mountains for a hike one day! All three were happy and relaxed, and the house was spotless when we returned. She took great care of them all and the house, we'd love to have her back some time. Thank you Alex!!
Alex Niese is one of the most responsible animal care-givers I know. She understands the importance of caring for each dog based on their individual needs. In addition to dogs, Alex has raised goats, chickens and a rescue baby-seal to return to his home habitat. She's seen it all and just loves being a part of raising and caring for dogs. I am happy to work with each client to accommodate your dog's specific routine. But I generally will do two walks a day, one in the morning and one in the evening as well as dog park/yard play time depending on the dogs normal play routine. I also love training dogs so if you have a training routine to follow I will gladly participate. If you don't have a training program I may create one for myself when I'm there just for fun! I will be sure to attend to all medical needs your dog may have (my dog needed two knee surgeries due to congenital defects so I know how important it is to stick to medical routines!).

My pets are like family and I would like to treat yours as my family so please do not be shy about your animal's needs as I will do everything to make sure your animal is comfortable and in a safe and loving environment. :)
A typical day
I love going for long walks and hikes and I am very happy to bring your dog along with me! I do active training while on hikes while both on and off leash. I think it's important to also play with your pet to get some physical activity as well as train with your pet to tire them out mentally. I'll also give plenty of cuddle time with your animals if that is something they enjoy!

Availability
I currently only have to be on campus a few hours mid morning on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I can take the dogs for a walk before I leave and let them out and play with them after I return.
