Pet care experience
Hello! I’m so glad to be on this platform and to meet folks who are looking for serious and caring pet caretakers. I’ve been doing this for most of my life. Staying in peoples homes mostly, but now have a large one of my own to host animals too! I love being with dogs, cats and all types of new animals. My favorite thing to do is learn the animal’s personality traits and quirks and really try to zero in on their needs and help them better connect with or feel comfortable with their surroundings, whether it be their own or a new one. I love knowing that I can help them ease into things and that they don’t have to live in fear or feel worried, just be at liberty to relax or play, whatever their heart desires.

Alex and Bethany are real sweethearts and true dog lovers! Our 75 lb rescue pup, Rocky, is high energy - so we were worried about him getting enough exercise and stimulation when we left him with them for 8 days. But Alex and Rocky went on daily long hikes (rain or shine), and even made a special trip to Rocky’s favorite dog park. Getting the photos and videos, along with lovely descriptions of their escapades, really helped us feel comforted and confident he was in good hands. Just beware that your dog might have so much fun with Alex and Bethany, he/she may not want to leave!

I have a large private yard that has a contained fenced space within it. The exterior yard will be equipped with a lead for dogs that like to run a lot more. The interior of the house is large but free of clutter, has plenty of comfortable nooks to sleep in, rooms to play and run and explore. It is a safe environment, very private property and very quiet. They will get tons of attention from my wife and I, as we live here alone and currently do not have pets of our own. We love taking furry friends for hikes or to the park or to swim in nearby lakes and ponds. This would really be an enjoyable vacation for your loved one!

I don’t have any preferences other than if they have a nervous tick or “really don’t like it whens”. My wife and I had a rescue for 12 years, and he taught me SOOOO much about being nervous and what that means for him to try to communicate! It doesn’t have to be upsetting or unsettling when a dog has needs they can’t communicate, we just have to be available to how they express it and work with them. In short: I can work with any animal. The more I know in advance, the better we all will be for the duration and be able to relax and have fun!
A typical day
As mentioned above, there are tons of natural parks and bodies of water nearby to enjoy no matter the season, so that will be utilized daily! We also have a large yard for dogs that like to stay comfortable and know their surroundings. There is so much to sniff and explore just right here on our property. Typically when I watch others animals I first ask the parent what the dog actually wants and enjoys, and we take it from there. I will follow your lead on all fronts sleep schedule, playtime habits, eating rituals, etc. Its all about making sure your best friend is happy and comfortable.
