Who let the dogs out? ME ✋

Pet care experience

My name is Alex. Big-time animal lover (of all kinds)! Even volunteered with wildlife for a couple years following graduation from my Environmental Studies program at UCSB. Now that I work mostly with people, I need to get my animal fix in whenever I can. I am good with walking more than one dog at a time and am very punctual. I have been walking with Wag as well and have a flawless 5 star rating. You will always get your money's worth with me! Not currently able to offer any boarding services, but would LOVE to pet sit or check-in on your pet in your home! Love walks as well :)

We had to cancel our trip because one of our dogs was having back issues. However, Alex was nice enough to come by and visit both dogs anyway.

Who is Alex? Someone who can be your everything, and tick all your boxes. How do I know that? Why because Alex sees the needs and fills them. Would I recommend her? Umm, 1 million percent. Am I going to have her back? Prayers and wishes going up that when we need someone, she will be available! Here is our story. We were going to Hawaii for a week. The dog was not coming with us. ha ha So. When we were looking for a dog sitter, we were anxious. Would we find someone to do what we wanted them to do? Could we trust them in our house with all our things? How could we know if they would enjoy themselves as well- meaning they would be comfortable and happy with our dog. Meaning in turn, he would also be content. Now let me add, that we have never boarded or left our 3 year old dog with anyone he did not know. And his circle of close friends is small. . .so when we have left him, he has not had any anxiety. Sure, he has missed us, but historically he did not have to make a new relationship in the process. But this. This was a whole new situation for our furry member of our family. Now he would be missing us, AND getting to know someone out of his comfort zone. I talked to a few people, and considered them. Everyone was nice, but when I met Alex, interviewed her, and watched her interact with my dog, I knew she was the winner of my quest. Alex was not phased by the high drive or high demands of our dog who wanted attention, belonging, and structure pretty much 24/7. We are retired and he is used to having people with him. Now for the bonus points. Our dog would definitely be considered challenging. Our dog is a hard sell. He is reserved. He is not easily impressed. If he doesn't know you, he has no need for you. And remember- We were in Hawaii for a week. I knew it would take time for him to trust Alex. I had her come the night before we left so he could see her with us. So he would know she was "okay" and a friend. This was my thought process anyway. We left about 4 am, with our dog in complete shock that his world as he knew it was tipped over and out of balance. What would happen? Welp. Alex texted us every few hours to keep us in the loop of what was happening back at home as we began our vacation. It took him about 48 hours for our dog to warm up to her. Basically for 48 hours. . . While we were across the ocean at a beach, our dog was moping up in our room up stairs. After going outside for what he needed to do, he would go up to our room and just hang out. He tried to ignore her. He was barely eating. But Alex was invested in making everything wonderful. She spent time up there where he was. She got him to come out every so often before he would head back to our room and jump up on the bed to continue his vigil. I felt very sad at hearing this process, but I appreciated Alex's honesty and her assurances that it was going to be fine. The first day went by. The second day went by. On the third day, guess what? Lo and behold, it suddenly had the happy ending. Our our dog was sold. Suddenly, Alex was his new buddy! Hooray! And he would not leave her side. He brought her toys. He ate next to her. He slept across her feet. He snuggled up to her on the sofa while she was on her computer or watching TV. In return, she played with him. She gave him treats. She talked to him. She snuggled with him and he was her shadow for the rest of the time we were gone. When I saw her videos and pictures of him, there was nothing better. Absolutely nothing. Your dog is everything. The person who takes care of your dog needs to be as many things as possible. Alex was all the things. We came home to a clean house and a bouncy happy dog. Alex? She was an angel, plain and simple. She enabled us to have a great trip. All of this makes me tell you that she is my go-to whenever we go anywhere. We heart you, Alex!

We booked Alex over the holidays to watch our two dachshunds. I was super anxious about leaving them. I work from home so our dogs are not used to be left for long periods of time. Or youngest dog also needs someone to really be paying attention to him asking to go out or else he will have an accident inside. Alex immediately put my mind at ease with detailed and frequent updates. She sent tons of photos (which I greatly appreciated) and it was obvious from her updates that our dogs loved her. She also let me know she was giving training treats every time the younger dachshund would go potty outside to reinforce his potty training. She left the house immaculate and also left an adorable Christmas present full of dog treats which was such a nice thing to come home to!! 10/10 dog sitting experience for us. I highly recommend Alex for all of your dog sitting needs!

Let me know how your dog handles encounters with other people and animals so I am aware of any safety measures I should employ or places to avoid, and any commands or behaviors you are currently using or working on. Would you like picture and video updates or prefer for me to leave you the heck alone? Do you have a good WiFi connection? Important for me to get my work done, so I can be there most of the time.

I enjoy going on nature walks along a water source if possible, or finding fun green belts. They will also get lots of pets, cuddles, and occasional treats!
