BFF to your BFF

Pet care experience

I have been fostering and dog sitting pups for over three years. We have housed a number pups and saw them to their forever homes. I enjoy training dogs, providing them exercise; physically- walking, hiking and jogging and mentally - puzzles, kongs, and sniffaris. I love petting and cuddling with pups and seeing their personalities blossom. I have experience with all different types of pups and situations. I want to hold pups accountable to their best selves but also give them the opportunity to have fun and be loved. We have found structure helps, but also want to provide them a relaxing space so that when their people are on vacation they can feel like they are on vacation too.

Alex loves fostering dogs. She’s very thoughtful in the care she provides to each dog, making sure they get plenty of physical as well as mental stimulation. She strikes the right balance between discipline and fun, and the dogs are better off for it. Due to her experience fostering a variety of dogs with different personalities, she has gained a keen sense into how to handle new dogs pretty quickly.

Alex has walked and helped us watch our foster dogs. I trust Alex to take care of our foster dogs. Alex has taken care of our most challenging fosters. She is confident and caring with the dogs. She asks questions about their routines and maintains them.

Alex has a lot of experience with different dogs. She is attentive with each pup and makes sure she is careful of their needs and limits. She loves each of them and tries to give them the attention and care they deserve. She loves sending updates and photos of her pups. She will keep you updated when your pup is in her care.

Alex has known my 10 year old dog, Ruby, since she was a puppy. Ruby can be a tough walker (pulling) and barks around the house, but Alex is great with her. She gives the right balance of affection and firmness so that Ruby loves and respects her! Five stars!

Information Alex C. would like to know about your pet

I require a meet and greet before taking on any pup. I want to familiarize myself with your fur baby but also be a familiar friend for them too. I look forward to being an aunty to your pup, but want to make sure we are set up for success. Give me as many details as possible! Routines, allergies, anything I should be aware of and be cautious of. What triggers for a dog should I avoid and what can I expose a dog to. How well does your dog do on walks? Is your pup house trained will they signal if they need to potty? Typically how long do they need to finish their business, do they prefer walks or the yard? Are there any behaviors to be aware of, like resource guarding, leash reactivity, barking. Is your pup high energy and how do they enjoy exerting that energy? Is your pup food motivated? Is your pup playful but do they also know to calm down when appropriate or can your pup be over stimulated and is it better to keep them calm and only excite with structure?

A typical day

I love providing familiarity to dogs but also new experiences. I love taking walks and showing off pups on Main Street Melrose, the multiple accessible dog parks (with permission) and hiking trails in the Melrose conservatory or Fellsway. I have a library of puzzles, kongs, and snufflemats to provide mental stimulation. I love making pupsicles, preparing lick mats and other treats for our furry friends.
