Who let the dogs out? It was me!
Pet care experience
Over the last few years I've dog sit for friends while also caring for my aging dog who passed away in April 2022. I've learned a lot from my friends who are all great dog owners and I'm confident in my people and pet skills to start caring professionally for your bewhiskered babes while I have down time with my full-time job.

Alex took great care of my dog while I was on vacation!
Alex watched my 20lbs dachshund mix (Bruce) over the Christmas holiday. Before Alex picked him up, he got into a gift of cookies we had left for her. He got sick and vomited all over his blanket. Alex was very caring and patient when he wasn't feeling well. He is pretty close to the ground as a small dog and we had subzero temps that week. He was hesitant about going outside in the cold alone in a different yard. Alex generously bundled up and went outside with him until he got more comfortable. Bruce struggled to get along with her relative's bigger dog and Alex wisely took him back to a familiar place to cuddle and relax. I was in a different state, couldn't help, and felt like it was the dog-sitting experience from hell. But Alex handled it with perfect grace and patience. My confidence in her was the reason I could somewhat relax while I visited with my family. I can't think of a better person to trust my dog with.
I've known Alex through two dogs now and she has been great with both of them. My first dog was the dog of everyones dreams, medium sized, with a mellow temperament, loved all other beings and just easy to be around. So naturally Alex was great with her, dog sat, and dog parked together often. My next dog however was a barrel chested handful, and took a lot of patience and you HAD to be attentive. And Alex got along and loved her even more. Always took time to be "on" when hanging out with Fred the dog. She was one of only a couple people in Fred's life who was able to come into our house without Fred being crated, and also was one of the only people who could watch Fred for an extended amount of time. If I didn't know Alex I honestly don't think I would have ever been able to go out of town. On top of those two dogs, Alex also was great with my cat who hated everyone and even though Alex was allergic to James they always got along great. 10 out of 10 would totally let Alex watch and care for my animals.

I rent a two story home with a full basement and a fenced yard. A large park that's great for dog walks is just two blocks north of my house. Currently, I don't have any pets or housemates. However, when I did we had a large dog and a medium size cat who didn't get along, but our house is big enough for them to respect to each other's safe spaces.

What makes your dog feel safe and secure and obviously, what doesn't. Your dog doesn't have to love me, but I do want to make sure that it feels safe enough to be around me so that we can work together. Then we can work on building a closer connection if that is needed. Also how does your pet do in cars?
A typical day
First thing would have to be letting my new friend outside for some relief. Next would be breakfast for the pup while I get myself put together. I'd like to go for a longer walk either in the neighborhood or a dog park if we're both feeling it. If I have to work that day, I'd switch for a brief walk around the block and some one on one play time in the house or yard before I have to leave for a typical 8hr day. As soon as I arrive home in the afternoon I'm sure another outside bathroom break will be in order, as well as some good quality play time with possible treats sprinkled in here and there if owners are cool with that. We'd probably feel hungry around the same time so I'd prepare dinner for the both of us. Then another nice walk before winding down for the night would be a delightful way to end the day.

I am a full-time carpenter apprentice and my company occasionally has down-time between contracts starting and ending. So I figured during my days off I could pick up some extra income doing something I've learned I really enjoy doing. Caring for my friend's pets!
