Pet care experience
I've had animals to care for since I was a child. This ranges from dogs, cats, horses, chickens, amphibians, and rabbits. I worked as a vet tech assistant for over a year and then moved to animal care/training before transitioning into my current career as an outdoor educator. I have maintained my animal care experience by helping my grandmother with her horse farm (which has Paso Fino Horses, dogs, and cats). I can work with all ages of dogs and cats. I am happy to bath pets and feel comfortable administering medication. I have experience caring for senior pets as well and am happy to give them whatever comforts they need.

I work with positive reinforcement techniques when taking care of animals. I am not there to punish your dog, I've noticed that can create an anxious filled relationship if I come to walk them/stay the night. I am patient and willing to sit with them to acclimate if they need time. I don't enjoy forcing any animal to do something and will take the extra time they need to succeed. I want then to feel like I'm a trustworthy person in their life while you're away. I help my Grandma by caring for her pets through patience and lots of love. While staying the night, I will follow their routine to keep consistency in the household so I don't potentially create new unwanted behaviors or worsen behaviors being worked on. If there is a dog currently in training, then simply let me know what I need to do and I will follow it. I will give your pets lots of love and attention but am ok if the animals need space. I respect your animal as much as any person.

I want to know any honest notes about temperment. This can help determine what activities we do. I also need to know if the dog has any medication requirements or if the dog has specific areas of stress, especially when it comes to outside times. I also like to know any medical issues, past and current, so I can make sure to provide activities that fit within the abilities of the pet. Allergies are important and if there's any specifications regarding treats.
A typical day
I enjoy giving pets an enriching experience by playing games, providing fun enrichments, letting them test out all the fun smells on walks, and taking them with me when I go out on the trail. This also includes any cuddles they want to provide or naps they might want to take!

Availability
I work at the Teton Science School as a Lead Instructor but I can work around that schedule to do what is needed for your pet! I do have to drive an hour to work, so I wouldn't be able to come back during my work day but I can definitely stop by on my way to work or from work. I also am open to staying overnight somewhere. Travel has never been an issue for me. I am looking for a place closer to Charlotte so I will adjust my range soon but for now, I'm open to the Winston-Salem and Charlotte area.
