Animal Reiki Practitioner Services

Pet care experience

My background is in behavioral therapy and energetic healing services. I combine the psychology of training and building trusted relationships with pets through positive reinforcement measures, establishing healthy boundaries of authority, and genuine love for play and care taking their needs on physical and relational levels. We have volunteered at dog shelters for the last several years and I was the lead volunteer coordinator and behavioral support member at the Green County Animal Shelter for a year. I am a Reiki Master and teacher, and while I also serve human clients in this practice, it’s been a joy to serve my furry clients as well and support them in releasing anxiety, expressing their needs with more clarity, and maintaining a sense of calm in their demeanor. Reiki is a gentle, hands on energetic healing modality that works with the energy and emotions stored in the body. Because our pets carry our energy to help us lighten our burdens, it’s important that they have outlets to let go of their stressors just like we need to. This makes for happier, more connected, easy living for the whole family and can create dramatic positive shifts in behavior for dogs with whom regular training methods haven’t been fully supportive. I offer this practice in all my services whether its walking, sitting, or stopping by for play dates because, simply put, it works. We have three dogs (miniature wiener dog, beagle, and Rotweiller) and a cat who live in perfect harmony with one another which I fully attribute to the combination support of the psychology in behavior training paired with the energetic stress relief supports. Healthy, Happy, Harmonious pets, that’s what I’m in service to creating with you and your family!

Alecia is the best dog & cat parents there is! She’s rescued & adopted 3 of her own dogs and a cat at home and she’s also helped rescue dogs on an international level. We once rescued and rehabilitated a puppy in Uganda so that the kids in the local village would be able to grow up with a well cared for dog and 5 years later this dog is thriving and so loved. Alecia has also looked after my dogs and cared for them through a tough stomach bug. I always trust her with my pets! Best person you could ask to love and care for your best furry friends!

Because we have three dogs of our own we would require several play dates prior to opening our home for your pets care to make sure everyone gets along fine (just like people don’t always get along, I never pressure a dog to be compatible with dogs they don’t live with/aren’t learning to long term bond with). That being said, we do have a fully fenced in yard as well as extra crates. I do offer crate training support with proven strategies for even the most anxious pups to honor that space as their personal den for rest and relaxation. For services in the clients home, I’m more than happy to walk dogs for whatever their routine lengths are and spend quality time playing in yards as applicable. I’m also happy to clean up any toilet related messes in homes or yards while I’m servicing your pup. I have experience with administering medications including injectable’s and am more than happy to learn if your dog needs extra TLC. I will make sure all your regular routines are followed as closely as possible to maintain consistency for your dogs/cat such as feeding, walking and potty schedules. I’m also happy to transport dogs to any dog parks you visit regularly and of course in case of any emergency. I’ve got basic dog first aid and CPR knowledge as well as.

Information Alecia S. would like to know about your pet

I want to know how your dog receives love. Dogs, just like people, have their own love languages too, and when consistency can be established from the get go, I can become a recognized place of safety and care if I know exactly how your dog receives love the best. Do they love treats, is there a special spot they like to be scratches, do they prefer calm gentle speech or WWE wrestling in play. I’m here for it all and I want your dog to know my job is to be as much like mom and dad as I can while they’re not around. I am an extension of you in your absence. Any special behaviors that need support like aggression or anxiety are always a must know in advance, as well as any specific physical needs like medications, prior injuries, or “no spots” (some dogs DO NOT want their faces touched at all or they become fearful, etc).

A typical day

I love to work a dogs mind. It’s one thing to run their energy out, which I certainly enjoy doing, but for dogs bred for their high intelligence they need that mental stimulation to allow their nervous system to fully relax. Anytime I can take dogs on nature trails that is my ideal place to go. There’s so much in the environment that stimulates their senses and its a great place to practice commands when other people are passing by. I always offer a decompression for dogs after high energy play or long walks by supporting them with Reiki, a gentle hands on healing modality that calms the nervous system and clears energetic blockages. I’ve seen wired puppies melt into puddles on the floor and remain calm and relaxed the rest of the day after a quick reiki treatment.
