My husband and I, including our two cats are new to the San Antonio area. Previously, while I was living in Virginia, I had worked for a dog walking company for about 8.5 years. I had started off as a dog walker taking on a variety of breeds (about 10 -12 visits a day), including puppies to senior aged dogs. A couple years later, I slowly moved up in the managerial position while still keeping a couple of dog walks in my day. We handled about 200 visits per day and roughly 40 dog walkers. One of the benefits working as a manager was being confronted on how to handle various issues when they arose. It taught me to quickly think on my feet and resolve various issues. Some of those issues were, a house alarm going off, sitter getting locked out of a house, a dog not feeling well, guiding a sitter on how to confront a scared/shy dog, etc… All these types of scenarios is what allows me to be a better pet sitter and to ensure I do my very best for your pet. I am currently available Monday through Friday, with occasional availability on weekends. My availability will be updated every Sunday. I am also available to see dogs or cats during my available times. POLICIES/PROCEDURES Visits starts from the time I walk through the front door and time ends when I walk out the front door. For example, for a 30-minute visit, if I walked in the clients home at 1:30, that is the start of the visit. Getting the dog and leashing up is all part of the starting time. This should typically be done quite quickly depending on how the dog behaves. Then I would do the walk or backyard let out, I would start heading back to the house around the 25/26 minute mark to allow time for checking water, treats, medication if needed and writing visit report. Then I walk out of the home at the 30 minute mark. This would go the same for cats. SAFETY • In person meet and greets are a requirement before the initial visit. This ensures I get the chance to meet the pup(s)s or cat(s) and how they respond to me. It also gives you the opportunity to show me their routine to ensure we keep things normal for them. There is no charge for meet and greets. • I am fully vaccinated and I will always wear a mask when I am inside your home. This is my own preference, please do not feel you need to wear one upon the meet and greet.  • I always try to have a spare leash in my car, but please always check the leash/harness to make sure it is fully intact and is not coming apart. This is for the safety of your dog to ensure they do not get loose while out on the walk. • If doing a back yard let out, yard must be fully enclosed in order for the dog to be off leash. Your dog will never be left unattended. • During the summer, the weather can get quite hot, my protocol is if the heat index reaches 90 degrees or more, walks will be shortened up to 15 minutes, and I will play inside for the duration of the time. If the heat index reaches 100 degrees or more, this becomes unsafe for the pet. This will entail a quick potty break and playtime inside for the duration of the time. Coming from the east coast and being used to cold weather, I will rarely shorten the walk. If you prefer the walk shortened, please let me know. I understand it rarely gets cold here, but if the temperature drops below 30 degrees I will do a quick potty break and play time inside for the remaining time. If the pup wears any jackets or booties during the cold weather, please just let me know. • Please try to leave a towel near the front door in case for those rainy days. I do not want the pup walking in with dirty paws. • I will never allow anyone to walk into your home, so please give me a heads up if you have any friends or relatives stopping by. • I do not allow visiting dog parks. This is for the safety of your dog. • I do not allow owners dog(s) to approach other dogs or people while on a walk. This is for the safety of your dog and myself. • While I will not give your pet any outside treats, please let me know in advance if your pet has any known allergies. I will only use treats or kibble that is at their home. • If there are any packages left out that do not weigh more than 10 lbs, I can bring it in for you. • Visit reports will be sent daily, including photos.
