Seeking new furry friends!

Pet care experience

I have lots of experience caring for pets whether they be senior/ special needs, puppies or cats! I currently work (and have 14 years of experience in) the veterinary field. I am familiar with all types of energy levels, specific breed requirements and have a deep understanding of pet personalities. Have a super high energy larger dog that needs a ton of exercise/work and doesn't "wind down" easily? Or a quiet, shy, smaller breed who prefers your undivided attention while they're in your lap? What about a rambunctious, totally sweet but "bull in a China shop" type of pup? Or even a bashful, but full of energy little one? I've seen it all; I love each and every personality and realize that every pet has his own specific needs and special way or communicating and I strive to meet your pet's personally needs whether that's: - Extra love and attention during down time - Extra exercise and having more play times - Trips to the dog park to hang out with your pups best friends - Playing in the pool/ playing with the hose - Extra brushing/ primping - Lots of snuggles to reassure the more dependent pups - Or for the more aloof pups: simply sharing a room and accepting love when they want to give it I have experience with it all! I believe spending time to get to know a pet's personality greatly impacts the care given to them which is why I love getting detailed intros from pet parents. Just like us, they all tick a little differently and need their needs met in different ways. I also have a ton of experience and love taking care of cats. Whether they are super chatty, fun loving and playful or if prefer the more "aloof cat" lifestyle and prefer a less is more approach I think they are all wonderful and enjoy learning their different personalities. I am also well versed in small animal first aid and know what to look for if anything is amiss or odd with your pet. I never want to plan on anything going wrong with any pups or cats but knowing what to look for in an urgent situation is half the battle. Secondly, knowing how recognize and triage issues such as: an upset tummy, UTI, torsion, toxic exposure, bloat, elevated skin issues or ear infections can give pet parents the peace of mind and the comfort that their "kid" is in great hands.

The first time we booked Alayia everting was great. We attempted to book her a second time and she asked if we could work outside of Rover because they take a lot of her payment with fees. We said fine. We contacted her the evening before we were to return home and she never answered. We got home and our cats were very hungry. We texted repeatedly to ask when the last time they were fed and got nothing. After days of texting to ask for our spare house key we realized she must have lost our spare key and hadn’t fed our cats for a day and a half. This was a lesson for us. If you use rover stay within the app and also, be careful who you trust.

This Petsitter evidently blocked me from leaving a review that I tried to post on Rover, I asked what was the pink spots on my pillow case and sheets and she would not answer yesterday, so now I’m posting this and the other things that are not good, this is not expensive but a new jar of notion creme is missing from bathroom counter, she drank 3 beers, 3 seltzer’s with alcohol. If there are other things, I don’t know yet. I just hope my little dog was fed like she said and her medicine given, that’s the main thing. I don’t want to ever use her again.

I have known Alayia Maxwell for many years, and ever since I can remember she has been involved with animals in some capacity. She has been riding horses since she was little and is now giving horseback riding lessons, training them, as well as competing in shows with them. She adopted a rescue cat and dog when she was in College and treats them lovingly. She is as caring and compassionate with people who need her assistance as she is with animals of all kinds. She has both volunteered for and worked in various Veterinary hospitals throughout the years since her teens, and would be an ideal addition to your dog-walking service due to her caring and understanding of each animals individual personalities as well as because she is responsible and and punctual. Dog owners would find her both personable and reliable....She truly is amazing with animals. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me via email. Thank you! Maia Rizzi

Alayia has a lifetime of living with, and caring for, all dogs large and small. Though currently in the equestrian profession, she has many year's experience working in vet offices, and has always kept a household full of pets. I believe her success with each new dog she meets comes from the natural sense of calm and comfort she brings to the initial interaction - something that animals are extremely sensitive towards. All her friends know they can rely on her when they have out of town plans or even need a practiced hand with post-op home care

Safety, trust & environment

I am comfortable with crating/ kenneling your pup, I'm no stranger to checking yard perimeters for ways to escape for the Houdini-like ones and rectifying the "perimeter breaches" before letting pups out and never open doors without having your pups' leash and collar on just in case they are escape artists. I like to get a list of do's and don'ts from pet parents before pet care as well. Does you dog like other dogs? Is he leash aggressive? Will he bolt to go after a squirrel? Does he have a personal vendetta against cats? How does he react to small children? All this info makes for a safer environment for your pup.

Information Alayia M. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has any special needs or requirements and I will be happy to accommodate in any way I can, as well as special dietary needs (if any). Any quirks (not liking other pets, food aggression, an aversion to cats or small children, etc) is also helpful for me to know so I can plan the best experience for your dog!

A typical day

I love to do all sorts of things with your pup-long walks in the neighborhood, meeting up with doggie friends if that's something your pup enjoys, playing with the hose or in the pool, a nice brush out with belly rubs, playing ball in the backyard or simply couch potato-ing it out and watching some Discovery or Animal Planet.
