Pet care experience
In addition to caring for my own pets (I grew up with guinea pigs, rabbits, and dogs and currently have two guinea pigs of my own) I have extensive experience pet sitting and dog walking. Whilst getting my Master's, I did overnight stays, drop-in visits, and walks for dogs, cats, and other small rodents. I gained experience taking care of pets with a variety of needs- ranging from giving pills and other medicine to elder animals, working with reactive and anxious dogs, and staying with puppies who needed basic training assistance (I've even flossed pets teeth before!). It's extremely important to me to maintain communication with the fur parents so pictures and videos are always provided! More than anything, I love animals and enjoy being able to spend time with them while making sure they're happy and healthy.

When entering someone's home to care for a pet, I am sure to prioritize respecting the owners' space while making sure the pet is being adequately cared for. In my years of experience caring for pets, I have always asked beforehand if/what areas are off limits for the pets and for me and where everything I need is. I keep my own home clean and safe for pets and am happy to make temporary changes to my space in order to ensure a pet's health and safety.

Information Alana R. would like to know about your pet
I don't have a preference about size or breed of dog that I care for. I just ask that I know ahead of time if what kind of needs they have- be it medical or behavioral.
A typical day
It's important that your dog enjoys their day with me so I want to make sure they're both mentally and physically stimulated! The most important thing is to adapt and do activities that are enjoyable for the dog at hand, since every one is different. I'm close by the Schuykill dog park so if you're dog is able to do activities such as those, I am happy to take them there for some time. If your dog is more solitary or prefers to stay inside and play, then I am happy to do that as well!

I am currently working full-time as a research analyst at Penn Nursing. My job is hybrid and am often working from home 3-4 days a week. Thus, I am fairly flexible during the day and am happy to walk/ drop-in to check on pets before or after work and on the weekends. I do not have a vehicle however am close to several bus and train routes and can access many parts of the city that way.
