I have cared for dogs for 12 years. Both my own, pet sitting for friends and volunteering with shelters or larger organizations such as Best Friends Animal Society where I spent two weeks learning from dog behaviorists and trainers to care for and rehabilitate dogs coming from abusive homes, abandonment, etc. I practice positive reinforcement with animals; ignore the bad behavior, encourage and reward the good! Dogs can tell us so much about how they’re feeling with their posture, ears, tails, mouths and eyes. When I sense or see a stressful situation for a dog, the dog is always right, and we will leave that stressful scenario behind and head back to our happy, safe place together. I follow leash laws strictly and will only enter an off leash dog park with your animal if they’ve had positive experiences in parks.
