Pet care experience
I’m originally from upper Michigan and have been taking care of animals since I was about 9, which has included dogs, cats, horses, chickens, goats, rabbits, and lizards. I’ve fostered through my local animal shelter, and the first dog of my own was a rescue originally from Texas! I also have had a semester long practicum at a veterinary clinic. Friends have relied on me many times to care for their critters while they’re out of town. I love meeting new animals, getting to know their routines, and giving plenty of cuddles while I’m staying with them. I have experience with senior pets, have no problem administering medications, and am confident at keeping up with daily exercise for active dogs!

Alaina took great care of our pups when she stayed at our house! She sent pictures and updates! The thank you card was such a thoughtful touch see when we arrived home! Everything was well taken care of and just as we left it. Will definitely use her again!

I love traveling to my clients. I will ask to schedule a meet & greet before confirming any booking, because it’s important for me to establish trust and get to know your pets! I am very flexible but will adhere to whatever schedule they are accustomed to, in order to make them as comfortable as possible! I really enjoy going on walks and spending quality time inside, too. I’m respectful when it comes to staying in someone else’s house and will follow all instructions I’m given. My clients’ confidentiality is important to me! I do typically ask for overnight pet sitting if my husband can either stay with me part of the time OR stop by in the evenings to visit. However I always ask permission and will never invite anyone to a client’s home without clearing it with them first! I am responsible, punctual, and honest.

When getting to know your dog (or any pet!), it’s helpful to know of any medications, whether or not they get along with other pets, how they generally respond to strangers, and any known triggers. For dogs, it is vital that I know if there is a fenced yard as that helps me anticipate potty and exercise needs. I will also ask if your dog is crate trained or not. I also love knowing what makes them happy. If there’s a favorite treat or an activity we can do, please let me know!
A typical day
I am very active and willing to go on long walks with the dogs I care for. I do keep dogs leashed for all walks and would not leave them unattended outside. Supervised play in a fenced yard is a lot of fun - let me know what your dog likes best!

I currently have very flexible availability for both during the week and weekends. I can be ready on short notice, too! In my free time, I am with my husband and also enjoy hiking, kayaking, Frisbee, reading, and working part time at an animal shelter.
