Hi! I’m Akiko! I am a lifelong lover of animals (with a special affinity for dogs), plants, and nature. Growing up in the Japanese countryside, I was surrounded by dogs, chickens, guinea pigs, insects, fish, and all sorts of wildlife. Taking care of people’s pets is a comforting reminder of my childhood. Though I haven't had my own dog for a few years (miss you, Lucah), I've always found great joy in caring for my friends' dogs and cats whenever they needed help. While my previous job as a graphic designer didn't allow for the commitment of having a pet, taking a sabbatical and now embarking on the journey of building my own business has provided me with the flexibility to design my own schedule, which also grants me more time to spend with furry companions! My last pup was a beloved English Mastiff named Lucah - a gentle giant who outweighed me, and yes, I happily walked him every day! As you can tell, I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes, from small to large breeds. One of the greatest joys for me is getting to know each dog individually and making sure they’re happy and taken care of in a way that aligns with their unique personality. I pride myself on being patient, attentive, and nurturing, ensuring that every dog in my care receives the attention and love they deserve. Just like humans, every dog has different needs and preferences. I understand that some dogs enjoy leisurely strolls with plenty of opportunities to explore and sniff their surroundings, while others prefer brisk walks covering more ground and getting lots of exercise. I’m excited to get to know the personality and any special needs of your pups, and provide them exceptional care during our walks and drop-in visits!
