Pet care experience
Growing up on a farm, I’m comfortable with all animals. I can’t remember a day in my life without a pet. I have volunteered in rehabilitation of fighting dogs, have trained many puppies, have trained ESA animals. I like signal training and helping dogs learn basic commands and discipline by learning their motivations and energy. I have had pets with special needs ranging from eyesight loss to hearing loss (and both) to epilepsy to needing medications to simply enjoying the golden years.

YOU HAVE FOUND YOUR HOUSE AND PET SITTER. Seriously, people! AJ has an immediate rapport with animals of various needs and temperaments; and this is strengthened by their extensive experience working at the humane society and on their farm (we have a 170lb St. Bernard and 3 cats, one with special needs). Their experience as a fire fighter and EMT means you can count on AJ to be confident and comfortable administering medications to your animals, and to exercise excellent judgment for whatever may arise. Honestly, I think our home is probably in better hands with them than when we’re here and we’re pretty confident, conscientious, and reliable people in such things. AJ is an excellent communicator, and adjusts to your needs and desires about frequency and extent of updates. They are an incredibly considerate house sitter, having left our home in a better state for our return than when we left. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave my children in their care, nor worry if they were the EMT on call if a loved one had an emergency. Also, they’re smart, funny, and an overall delightful human being. I recommend AJ fully and without any reservation!
As usual, AJ is so great with our dogs and a joy to have help us out with house sitting and dog sitting. They were even concerned about our safety driving during a big snow. One of our little guys was pretty upset that we left this time, and AJ really went above and beyond to help him deal with it. I wish AJ was always available to watch our boys.
AJ is a super-conscientious, communicative, meticulous dog and house sitter. We have two senior dogs who need medication and who have some physical limitations. AJ took great care of them and our house while we were out of town. They also brought in mail and packages AND shoveled the walks from a surprise snow. We received plenty of detailed updates throughout our trip. I would re-book with AJ anytime they are willing to come back down to Denver.
Literally the best. Reviewing again because they deserve it! Favorite sitter we have ever had.

My fur babies have access to all furniture and spaces. I have gates to separate certain areas of my home if needed. I’m comfortable with complying owner rules for their babies, furniture, and household. All of my animals are on a fairly regular feeding and exercise schedule that also align with their medication times.

Information Aj S. would like to know about your pet
With my experience as an EMT, I’m comfortable with giving medications, orally or injection. If your baby needs medications, please let me know the correct dosage and how they tolerate it (do they need treats before or after? Do they try to avoid medication administration? Etc.). If your pet has stress or separation anxiety, what is the preferred method of soothing them? (Longer walks, more cuddles, setting music on, etc.)
A typical day
Living on a bit of land, there’s a very large fenced in backyard with access to multiple trails and lakes. Long walks (3-5 miles) are a daily activity, weather depending. If the weather isn’t fair or if your pet isn’t walk motivated, there are plenty of opportunities for indoor playtime and loads of toys to check out!

I’m taking a break from being a chef. I’m not much of a morning person so afternoons, evenings, and nights are the best time for quality care.
