College Educated Obedience Trainer

Pet care experience

Your pet deserves the best with dedication, training and companionship. I have worked with the SanTan Animal rescue, the Little Traverse Bay Humane society and friends and family over the years; walking training and helping with adoptions and am using my experience and education to give the best to your pet. I'm a modified traditional and clicker trainer. I will be working with your pet as well as you if you're interested in learning my methods. I strive to go the extra mile every visit with you and your pet. During my training I will leave my tips and tricks for you. I'm the trainer and instructor you've been looking for because of the burning passion I have to impact the dog owning community.

It's so nice to have someone dependable to count on when going out of town. Love getting the frequent pictures and hearing about training that AJ did with my pup 🐶

AJ was double great with our boy Podrick!! Highly professional and very attentive with our dog. He's even better behaved now than when we dropped him off. Glad we've found a great go-to sitter in town!

Every visit is catered to training and maintaining good manners. My ultimate goal is to bring skills equivalent to a "Good Citizen" level of training even if we don't get much time I work to set steady foundations for success. Walks will not just be a easy breezy pull me around or softly walk through the neighborhood. We work on getting the dog tired and stimulated for maximum happiness of your pet. Dogs love figuring out challenges that help their comprehension of training grow and enhance the relationship between pet and handler. Seeing your dog improve on skills bring my heart so much joy sometimes I could just scream with excitement. Drop ins work pretty much the same, walking and doing house exercises to stimulate their brain and exhaust their energy in productive ways. I'll always leave tips tricks and techniques I may have used. In my home I train all day every day as I do my own dogs. Keeping their gears turning and growing their trust in me is highest of priority. My home is sectioned off into 3 parts in the case some dogs may not get along and need to be desensitized. There are 2 trainers in the home to assist with any training desensitization or other special needs your pet may have. And to take training to a comfortable but challenging level to expand that training. I always keep reflective gear and dog first aid kits on me while working with your pet. SAFETY FIRST! If you have more questions let me know. I hope to see you booking with me in your future 🩷

A typical day

A dog is always in training. My method of training is modified traditional + clicker training. When going for a walk I will start with the start up process. Grabbing the gear and getting the dog/s ready for the walk. I keep reflective gear and dog first aid kits on hand with every training session i have. I use door manners for every breed, big and small. I always go through first and invite the dog out. This helps with walking through the front door, bedroom door, ect. in a proper manner. Once the walk commences i encourage loose leash walk. There should never be a time where your arm comes close to coming out the socket. It takes alot of time and patience but this is something I work on every day even with my already trained service dogs. I have a whole bag of tricks to use if there are difficulties in walks to improve your over all walks with your pet. Praise praise praise, I will praise ever good behavior in your pet to reinforce what we are looking for in them. Good boy/ girl throughout your visit/walk/ sitting. Allowing time to sniff all the good tree trunks and grass patches, or whatever safe place they like helps incentivate walking nice to the next spot. I keep close attention to their mouths during sniffing, it's always a great concern to me what may or may not be near your dogs mouth. SAFETY FIRST. When staying in my home there are 3 other dogs. The house is separated into 3 sections to ensure safety and comfortability are both met. Training begins at first feeding time and goes all day including special requests of behaviors you may want worked on. We eat and work on a couple of basic commands, sit, lay down, stand, and look at me. And we move on from there based off the level of training we start with. This happens throughout the day to instil these commands up until dinner time. At the end of long term visits I make a profile/document with training I have done. What I see, what I do, and what I recomend.

Every dog deserves to have full attention. Basic obedience is carefully implemented with every single interaction with every single dog. I have 3 dog myself. 2 service dogs and 1 puppy. I train every dog out of natural behaviors of my own. I respect every dog and every owner and their needs. I spend my days studying and writing training programs to fine tune my own approach in this ever growing world of man's best friend and the relationship with their owners. I'm open to taking care of many varieties of animals in the case you have more. I grew up on a farm for a large portion of my life and have always been amazed by the loving relationship with not only dog and human, but with any animal, big or small.
