Happiness is a warm puppy

Pet care experience

I am originally from New Jersey but will be in Boston for three months for an internship at the New England Aquarium and thought that working for Rover would be an excellent way to spend my off days and meet some great dogs! My schedule is very flexible on Tuesdays, and Friday through Sunday. I have experience in caring for a wide range of animals in addition to caring for my own two dogs and two cats. I graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science. Throughout my time at Rutgers, I have had numerous opportunities to learn about the physical demands, organizational skills, and patience required for animal care through my classes, research opportunities, and hands-on experiences. In NJ I work as an Aquarist for the Rutgers Department of Marine and Coastal Sciences where I am responsible for the maintenance of several aquarium tanks. Additionally, I spent three years during my undergrad as a farm hand and weekend supervisor for the Rutgers cook campus farm. Outside of work I regularly walk my dogs (and one of my cats on occasion) and enjoy spending time with other people's pets. I am accustomed to caring for animals in the cold weather/rain/snow and am comfortable walking dogs and keeping them safe in these conditions if necessary. I also have experience administering medical treatment to farm animals and pets such as cats and dogs. In addition to being an animal lover, I play beach volleyball and scuba dive!

If you hire Ailey as a sitter, you can rest assured that your dogs will be in great hands. She truly loves all animals and has lots of experience as a caretaker. She grew up with two dogs herself and is well versed in feeding, walking, and cleaning up after them. Beyond that, she spent 3 years working on the farm at Rutgers University where she looked after the large animals. She is skilled at administering medicine to dogs, cats, horses, and cows. She even helped raise my cat from when it was a sick kitten into a now strong and healthy cat. You will not find a more capable or hard working sitter than Ailey.

Ailey has a very strong characteristic that stands out in her personality - she’s very empathetic. She’s often the only person in the room that is continuously aware of everyone’s feelings during social gatherings. She has a natural feel for the well-being and emotional state of the people around her. Her compassion for other people pales in comparison to the genuine care and passion she shows for animals. She knew from early on that she wanted to study Marine Science because of her love for the animals of the sea. She wants nothing more than to dedicate the rest of her life to helping and studying animals. She grew up with dogs of her own and has always taken care of them with the utmost love and affection. Seeing Ailey in a dog sitting role is more natural than seeing a sea turtle in the sea.

Hello...I want to recommend my 22 year old granddaughter Ailey to you as a first class dog walker/dog sitter and overall caregiver. I know this from personal experience. Ailey as lived with us since the day she was born and for the last 15 years she has been the primary caregiver for our 2 female doggies...Raven and Eddie. Ailey walks them, plays with them, talks to them and makes sure they are fed, watered, cared for and loved. She has loved and been interested in all kind of animals since she was a little girl. She spent 2 years at a boarding school in the Adirondacks --North Country School --which had a working farm that the kids helped run. Ailey fed chickens at 5AM, rode and groomed horses, rounded up stray sheep and goats. That love and curiosity about animals stayed with her through college. At Rutgers University her work/study job was working 12-15 hours a week on the Rutgers Farm where she cared for the cows, horses, pigs, goats and sheep. She loved it ! Of course, as Ailey's grandfather, I know I am biased. But I know, too, that she is a remarkable young woman who is responsible, dependable and reliable. She has a great work ethic and can be counted on and trusted and is fun to be around. I have no doubts that she can do the job !

Ailey has been an animal lover her entire life and learned responsible animal care at a young age. She attended a boarding school on a working farm for 4th and 5th grades where students performed chores that included caring for horses and sheep and other farm animals. She continued that work as a student at Rutgers where she was a supervisor in the care of horses and cattle at the Rutgers farm. Ailey is particularly fond of household pets, and our two dogs go nuts with joy whenever she returns home. They can't contain their anticipation of an outing with her. I can recommend Ailey for any type of animal care without reservation.
