My work background is in social services, and I bring the same amount of care, empathy, and respect whether I'm working with people or animals. For years friends and family friends have trusted me to look after their furry family members and home while they're on vacation, or to last minute help them out with a dog walk when they're in a bind. I am also one of Dakin Animal Shelter's foster parents; it has been such a joy to provide animals with a safe space for rehabilitation.

I am a detail oriented and conscientious person, so I will ask the necessary questions for me to correctly process and understand the information you provide about your animal and your home. It's important that I have clarity and confidence about the requirements of the job instead of relying on assumptions and my "best guess". So I am always honest about if I don't understand something or have further questions about your animals needs. Though I am very intuitive and have reliable judgment, I know that every animal is different and every parent chooses to parent differently, so it's important to me that I stick to the routine that is most effective for this specific pet's comfort and safety.

Please inform me of any quirks your pet has - anything unique that would trigger your animal, any body part they don't like touched, etc. If they have a history of trauma and there is any information that would be relevant for me to know. Anything your animal particularly likes or feels comforted by. Really just as much information you can provide about the best approach to making your animal feel safe and connecting with them. As well as all the material information I should know about their routine.
A typical day
We'll spend time getting to know each other, depending on how fast your animal warms up to new people. We'll either go to your dogs favorite spot, or go adventuring together! If your dog has the energy for hikes, I love exerting some of my own energy and taking in a beautiful view with a new pup friend. If it's your cat I'm taking care of - once they feel comfortable with my presence, if they choose to come sit on my lap I treasure time spent calmly petting them and giving them lots of love. I also love engaging them with cat toys so they can have a fun mild form of exercise.
