I began looking after the next door neighbor’s pup when I was 11. Learning to schedule times to drop in, how to make an unfamiliar pet comfortable with you, even administering medicine are lesson I am grateful to have learned early. While I grew up around rescue pups, I am now a proud cat mom to two rescue kittens. Having had pets of my own and clients’ pets ranging from kittens to end of life care, I find it vital to meet pets where they are. For me, care is beyond checking the food or scooping a litter box. It should be about making sure the animal’s anxieties as best subsides while their people are away. This is about making home still feel like home.
