Experienced foster loves long walks
Pet care experience
Prior to Rover, I volunteered as a dog foster for two years, caring for dogs in need on the way to their forever families. Fostering ranged from puppies (successfully leash and crate training them!) to older dogs (surgery recovery). Getting to incorporate a dog into my life for days to months at a time is always able to make me happier, and I think I make the dogs happier too-I love getting to bond and befriend dogs quickly which helps me meet their needs and make them more comfortable, faster! I've been on Rover for almost three years and it has been such a lovely way to make friends (human & dog) in the Ann Arbor community. I grew up with two black labs (sisters from the same litter!) and until I can get my own dog, I’d love to play, walk, and hang with yours!
Reviews
Abigail was wonderful; a magic "dog whisperer" for my anxious dog! She suggested a "meet and greet" before, which was really helpful. And whereas I was nervous to leave my anxious dog for the first time, she was calm and that helped both us both (me/my dog) to relax! She sent updates and pictures; these were much appreciated. The clincher: when my mom went to pick my dog up, he wanted to stay with Abigail! : ) I will definitely use her again - thanks, Abigail!
I recently adopted my dog, Ziggy, from a shelter. He's a sweet, gentle dog, though has a bit of separation anxiety. Abigail K. clearly loves and understands dogs, and she and Zig got along well from the start. When I returned home I was glad (and relieved) to see Ziggy calm and relaxed, lying next to her on the couch. She also texted me about 15 minutes after I left home to let me know that Ziggy was doing fine. I've already booked her for a longer stay.
Abby was great with Dora. She asked relevant questions, seemed very knowledgeable, and kept me up to date with pictures.
Abby stayed with our one year old dog for one week at our home while we were out of the country. She was super easy to communicate with and took great care of him and our house. Would use her again in a heartbeat!

At my home, your pet will roam freely while I work at my desk. We will take plenty of breaks to go play outside in the backyard or walk around the neighborhood. **Please no requests with cats—I am allergic.

PLEASE READ: **I require a crate for all bookings** unless I have an established agreement with an existing client. This ensures your dog's safety should I have to leave the house during a stay. It also aids me in being respectful of my housemate. However, when I am home, your dog is free-roaming by my side through the house! No same-day bookings with new clients. Financial policy: I request a $5 late fee for pickups greater than 30min past scheduled time, unless a change in pickup time has been communicated more than 24 hours in advance. Thank you for your understanding.

Playing in the backyard seems to be the favorite thing of every Rover dog I have hosted! There are lots of good sticks to fetch, or your dog can come over with their own favorite toy. Walking through West Park is another favorite activity.

Availability
I am a current graduate student at U of M. The past three years while on Rover, I have had flexibility to work from home most days of the week, which has been wonderful for regular doggy day care. In winter 2023, I do need to go to campus three half-days a week, but all services are still available. I am still very committed to caring for your dogs with the time that I have! And my past clients can confirm my dedication. I am also always happy to schedule meet-and-greets now with sights set on house sitting or doggy day care further in the future. PLEASE CONTACT if you'd like to discuss my availability, **even if my calendar shows that I am unavailable**, as there may be some degree of flexibility.
