Here is what is important to know: My name is Abby, I am a person who has been passionate about animals ever since I've been a little girl. I was always interested in both their behaviors and how to take care of them, mentally and physically, and how to make them feel relaxed and comfortable with me. I am particularly adept at gentle handling methods and asking the animal to bond with me. Gentleness is a must with me! My professional journey with animals began in 2018 at the former Eastern Townships Animal Shelter where I had contact with the most difficult dog cases of my life (TO DATE!). I had to deal with anxious, depressed, sick, frustrated, and aggressive dogs in some cases while still giving them good care and training. That being said, in a shelter setting, caring for +/- 20 dogs can prove to be quite stressful and difficult. Following this, I worked at the ''Grande Ménagerie'' as a reptile and fish clerk, this is where I discovered my penchant for snakes (I now have two!). With these different experiences, a world of discovery, research, and occupation opened up to me that I didn't know. I started reading books and doing research in order to gain as much experience as possible, to learn as much information as possible in order to offer superior and accurate advice. In the past 4 years, I had many animals under my care in my personal life such as dogs and cats( maybe around 20-25). Since then, I have been doing my own research in order to learn as much as possible about animal behavior (mainly canine), about how these amazing and highly intelligent animals learn. At the moment, I would call myself a student/intern. I am looking to gain as much experience as possible with as many animals as possible before opening my own business or calling myself a professional! By choosing to trust me, you can be sure that the priority will always be the good care of your animals, no matter what you ask for. As for my education and qualifications, I have a certification as a canine specialist as well as experience having worked at the SPCA. Furthermore, for the past 8 months, I have been a canine trainer (specialized in R+) in order to learn the ropes of the trade. I have been following an accredited professional to learn even more and have some support. I am currently pursuing my studies to obtain a grooming certificate worthy of the name.
