Long Walks and Belly Rubs!

Pet care experience

When I started petsitting and housesitting three years ago, I had no idea it would grow into a part-time passion project, or that it would create such a large, lovely network of pets and pet-parents that I absolutely adore. I really love animals and I get so much joy from providing peace-of-mind for my friends and neighbors. When you hire me to take care of your pet, I spend lots of time with each pet so that they feel happy, calm, and safe. It’s simple, but it works! Pet parents often tell me that their cat or dog warmed up to me far sooner than they expected. And pet owners are always so pleasantly surprised that their pet is excited to see me again. The reason pets love me so much is because I am so present and attentive to them, while also providing them with consistency and structure. I really notice what makes each pet happy and then I give that to them. Maybe your cat loves scratches behind the ear, or maybe your dog loves playing fetch after dinner… I believe consistent exercise is good for all pets. Even senior pets (in moderation, of course!). Dogs gain stimulation from neighborhood walks, from the smells in the park, some indoor fetch, or a string toy game. If your dog likes a LOT of exercise, that is a great fit for me as well. Living between two gorgeous parks (Central Park and Riverside Park), I try to get out and walking as much as I can, and love to bring my pet-pals with me.

Abby is fantastic!!! Loves being with dogs and cares for them dearly! Can't say enough great things about my dog's stay with Abby. When Abby left, my dog cried and searched everywhere for her! We made a great friend in Abby. Responsible, lovely, always stays in touch with photos. I did not worry for one second how my dog was doing, I knew she was having a great time with Abby! 5 stars plus!!

Abby was an amazing dog and house-sitter! This was our first Rover experience and we were nervous about reliability, since our trip came up at the last minute and we were traveling far away. Abby made herself completely available, shared lots of photos and updates. She took wonderful care of our dog and our apartment and the experience could not have been better, we will work with her again!

Amazing caretaker! Not only did Abby do a fabulous job taking care of our elderly puppers on an last minute extended dog sit over the holidays, she also treated her to a mani/pedi and a tooth cleaning! Lots of pics and great communication between us as well. We'd be happy to have her take care of our dog baby anytime.

Abby was absolutely incredible with Nala. We received constant updates and Nala came back so happy.

I have a simple space, but plenty of space for cats and dogs to stretch out. Pet owners generally provide blankets or beds, but if not, I have plenty of comfortable spots for them.

Information Abby S. would like to know about your pet

There are several things that are helpful to know, in addition to basic care information, like your pet’s meal times and walk times, and their medical caref, if necessary. 1) Do they have any “triggers”? (For example: big dogs, thunder, or the sound of cars). 2) Is there anything your cat or dog can’t resist? (For example: scratching couches, chewing shoes, chasing squirrels, eating sidewalk trash). 3) What does your dog really enjoy? (For example: fetch, ear scratches, or chew toys). And anything else you’d like me to know. You know your pet better than anyone — and I’m here to help!

A typical day

I especially love taking dogs for long walks, but not every dog is up for that. I adapt based on the dog. If your dog likes to play fetch, or enjoys the dog park, I am happy to do more of both!

I’m a very active person. I spend most days working from home, but I take many breaks throughout the day to spend time with the cats and dogs I sit. I also love long walks, and fit those in after and before work, and on the weekends.
