Experienced & Home Full-Time

Pet care experience

Hello! My name is Abby and I'm extremely passionate about animals. I am a Nashville native and received my Bachelor's in Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain Management from from Tennessee State University, and currently working towards a Masters of Finance with Middle Tennessee State University. While in school, I worked and created my own pet sitting business in Nashville helping over 80+ clients over the past 7 years. In the past 7 years as an entrepreneur in this business I've gained a lot of valuable experience that I have been able to apply to my career as a full-time pet care provider. I have extensive experience in medication administration, monitoring general health and wellness, as well as being able to identify symptoms of injury and illness. Continuing on my journey to expanding my professional skills, I've trained in positive reinforcement training with a focus on basic obedience as well as studying dog + cat behavior at length. These skills have helped tremendously in curbing undesired behaviors and forming positive behaviors during boarding stays, and daycare. I work from home full-time as a private pet care provider and have been doing so for 6 years now! The majority of my work consists of overnight boarding in my home. I only accept a limited number of drop-in visits outside of my home per day (1-1.5 hours maximum) so I'm not gone for more than 2 hours in a single day, if at all. This ensures that your pet will get plenty of attention while in my care. This also gives me the ability to make sure potty breaks, play times, and scheduled meal times occur in a timely manner. Safety in my home is absolutely everything. I do take the responsibility of keeping your pet safe very seriously and I stress that with every new pet parent I meet. I live alone in a 4 bedroom home with a large, secure and 8 acre enclosed backyard. I do have 3 other roommates who are all animal lovers. One roommate does have a dog and at, both of which are spayed and truthfully couldn't hurt a fly it they tried. While your pet is in my care for daycare and/or boarding services, I will not be taking them out on walks or in public places due to many unnecessary scenarios that could potentially come into play. The last thing I’d want to happen is for your dog to get away from me on a walk, have an unknown dog come up to us, or have a stranger come into contact with your pet. I do have an active home and there's always more than enough activity going on within the house and yard that walks aren't necessary for exercise or entertainment. The house is set up for animals and I'm very aware that some dogs like to be a little mischievous and get into things they shouldn't. For this reason, I do not leave any food, treats, or potentially harmful substances out for them to access. There are also no poisonous or dangerous plants inside my home or within the backyard and has easy access to the back yard for large dogs, small dogs, and dogs with hip and joint issues. I use only animal-safe cleaning products within my home and yard as I am also concerned for how this affects my own pets.

Abby worked for my petsitting service for several years. I trusted her completely to run my business while I was away and she also helped me with day to day pet sitting and overnight stays. She is very responsible and hard working. She loves pets and takes great care to follow the owner’s instructions. You would be very lucky to have to care for your pets!

Abby has been our go-to dogsitter for years now and we couldn’t love her more! She is a true animal lover and it shows. Abby is a pro at the standard pet care duties - feeding, walking, sending pictures to the pet parents who are missing them like crazy - and has also performed medically-necessary extras for our pups, including giving eye drops and caring for a leg brace. There is no one we would trust more with our pets!

Information Abby M. would like to know about your pet

It is my #1 goal to provide a safe, positive, comfortable and clean environment for all animals. Together, we can tailor your pet's stay to ensure a happy and memorable experience. + All dogs must be spayed or neutered in order to participate in daycare or boarding services, with the exception of puppies 6 months and under. If coming in for grooming services, female dogs cannot be in heat or pregnant at the time of their appointment. + All dogs must be reasonably 'clean' at check-in for daycare and/or boarding. Upon check-in, they cannot have any external parasites, such as fleas or ticks, stickers, urine or feces on their coat, not covered in cigarette ash residue, or have excessively long nails that are at high-risk of breaking during their stay. This is potentially harming to themselves or another animal during play. If you have any questions or concerns regarding any of the above issues, please don't hesitate to address those with me. I am a professional groomer with 8 years of experience and can resolve these issues for your pet prior to their stay. This will ensure we keep the home clean and free of any contaminants that can affect the health and safety of the other animals in my care. + All dogs must be current on core vaccines including rabies, distemper + parvo, and bordetella (kennel cough). Proof of vaccines administered by a licensed veterinarian must be verified prior to your pet's stay. Vaccines help tremendously in protecting your animal and the animals they're around from contracting and transmitting serious viruses and diseases. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about these vaccines and if you need a referral to a local veterinary clinic. + Dogs must be kennel-trained or be able to be put in a kennel or playpen for their safety and the safety of others, if necessary. Dogs are not allowed to roam the house unsupervised to reduce potentially unsafe or harmful incidents. Though I am home 99% of the time, all animals will be separated into designated areas if/when I need to leave the house or am otherwise unable to be physically present (this includes while they sleep overnight). Examples of unsupervised moments when I need to separate animals include: running an errand, mowing the lawn, taking a shower etc.. + Minor barking or whining in the crate is OK and expected, though excessive tantrums or attempts to escape a crate, playpen, or room that can jeopardize their health and well-being or the safety of others in the home may indicate that my home may not be the best fit for your pet. All friendly and sociable dogs will be out and about in the house and yard the majority of the day under my supervision. + Dogs must be housebroken/potty trained. All dogs will have multiple opportunities throughout the day to go potty outside (every 1-3 hours) and will be shown the back door to the yard several times during their stay. I understand that this will be a new environment for them and will do everything I can to set them up for success while here, including positively reinforcing going potty outside. Any excessive territorial marking indoors subject to additional fees. * I can accept dogs who may have issues with marking indoors if wearing a diaper or 'belly band' is tolerated. These must be provided by the owner. I can make recommendations for these products if needed. + If any dogs exhibit 'mounting' or 'humping' behavior towards other dogs during their daycare or boarding stay, they will not be allowed to play with other dogs. This behavior almost always results in disagreements, fights, or causes the dog(s) on the receiving end to become fearful during their stay.

As of 2022, I have nearly 7 years of experience caring specifically for dogs and cats through personal pet ownership and fostering. I have specific requirements for the animals in my care based on my personal experiences. I love to simulate your dogs physically and mentally. We'll play a bunch of games, check out all the new smells, and explore the 8 acres of my backyard!
