Pet care experience
Hi, my name is Abby and I have over 10 years of experience taking care of different animals from dogs to tortoises, goats, and even rats! I just graduated from the Duke Physician Assistant program and am just staying home studying all day until I start my job in a couple months. This means I can spend all day with your pup! I know that being separated from their owners and families can be hard on dogs. As a result, I spend most of my time at home with them to make them more comfortable (and of course also to provide lots of cuddles, pets, and walks)! I have always loved animals (I grew up with two dogs and a tortoise) and I will take care of your pet like they are my own. I am a very active and energetic person love going for long walks and runs so I can definitely keep up with your pup if they have a lot of energy. I have plenty of experience working with puppies, elderly dogs, and every age in between.

Abby was amazing!! My dog is very anxious and he loved all the snuggles and couch time with her. I didn’t worry one second while I was on my trip and she sent so many cute pics/updates. She also went the extra mile by cleaning my sheets/making my bed, so I had one less thing to do when I got home. Will definitely be using her in the future. Highly recommended!
Abby was wonderful! Our dog can be nervous of new people but Abby was super patient and understanding and our Luna warmed right up! She took great care of our dog and our home while we were away. Highly recommend!
We were a little nervous about leaving our anxious dog at home for a day trip, but we knew as soon as we met Abby that he'd be in good hands. She took great care of him, and he made a new best friend! We'll definitely ask Abby to watch him from now on. Thanks, Abby!
Abby was amazing! Our soccer match ran long and Abby not only took our pup on two walks she stayed with her much later than anticipated.

I grew up with two dogs and a tortoise (yes, a tortoise haha) and they were not just pets, but part of the family. I understand how intimidating it can be leaving your loved ones and home with a stranger, so I always put in extra effort to send lots of pictures, updates, and ask questions if i’m not sure about something. It is important that your pet feels comfortable with me and I am happy to accommodate whatever your pet needs - whether that is long walks, relaxing cuddles/pets at home, going to dog parks, or having them sleep with me in the bed. I am also quick to respond and thorough in updating all owners about how their dog(s) are doing! Just let me know how I can best take care of them and I will do the rest :)

Please let me know if your dog has any specific dietary needs (specific foods to avoid, any medications they are taking, etc.), if there is any training you want me to reinforce while I take care of them, how your dog reacts to other dogs, people, or kids, information for your preferred emergency vet, and any other information you think is important to know while I care for your dog. I am also comfortable administering any medications your dog may need!
A typical day
I am also very active and I love to go for long walks and runs. My favorite places to take dogs are the Duke Gardens, the Washington Duke Inn golf course loop, the American Tobacco Trail, or the 2-mile loop around Duke's east campus. I also have a car to transport your pup if there is somewhere specific you want me to take them!

Availability
As mentioned, I am a recent graduate from the Duke Physician Assistant program and spend most of my days studying at home while waiting for my job to start in a couple months. If you book me, you can be sure that I will spend all day with your pet. I love to play with them at home, go for multiple walks a day, or take them to the dog park. I am more than happy to accommodate my schedule to fit their normal schedule and preferences!
