How can I help?
Pet care experience
I’ve taken care of dogs for ten years- maybe more. Limited time in those ten years due to lack of demand for dog care. The most exposure was taking the night shift 4pm and 11pm daily dog checks for my neighbor’s westie. Also, a few times a year my brother’s mutt (terrier mix) is boarded with me. I enjoy 5 mile walks but also enjoy outings when a dog wants to take its time smelling every blade of grass or wants to go back inside because he/she stopped smelling home. As for food and water procedures, I rely on detailed instructions from the owner. Play and affection needs are based on the dog. If the dog wants cuddles, I can sit and give belly rubs and pets or play. I’m also comfortable giving minimal attention, basic needs, potty break and I’m out the door. I’m interested in helping owner and pet to their needs.

Skills
Safety, trust & environment
I thrive on instructions and procedure. For example: dog needs wet food taken out of the fridge 15 minutes before being fed, dry food first, say ‘off’ if the dog gets on the furniture. I complete care as instructed. As for safety, I also rely on the owner.
Information Abby D. would like to know about your pet
Special Needs. For example, will constantly bark at squirrels while on walks, so walk only at night. It’s more about what the owner wants. I’ve had pets since I was little so pee/poo/hairball piles aren’t unusual. I have fed pills to a cat (glide pill as far down throat as I could then stroke the pill down). Special Needs information needed so I know how to provide the best care.
A typical day
Enter, let dog out to potty/take on short walk to potty, follow feeding schedule, sniff air to check for accidents (clean up if present), sit down on floor to present myself to doggy loves and pets, play with squeak toys (fetch or other ways the toys capture the dogs attention.
Services

Availability
I work first shift but have a flexible schedule afterwards and on weekends and most holidays. Pet care would fit in after work, 4-ish, and before bed if needed, or anywhere in between.
