It is my belief that as an owner and a caretaker it is needed that lots of time be spent with the pet. Fun time, training time, and lazy time. It builds a friendship one that isn't easily broken. With dogs its their favorite game I play over and over. If there's a behavior that isn't appropriate then I reinforce the opposite of what they're doing with a positive response. Dogs learn through positivity much better than through negativity. Then we lay around whether that means in the grass chilling or on the carpet as wet kisses make my hair point one direction. Felines are a bit more pretentious, but I do a good job of making a cat curious. Through curiosity they get to know me through my unique way of talking to them. I pet them and really give them a deeper understanding of a fellow feline. Then it's laser play time. Bringing out there dominating hunter side. Then string or ball so they can stalk and pounce. With cats it's not about being a part of the pack, no it's about being the alpha of the pack. One they can trust.
