Synthia was a lifesaver as our typical dog sitter (my mom) was unable to watch our doggies for us while we went on vacation. She got back to me very quickly when I sent an inquiry about watching our fur babies. She came to meet us and get familiar with our needs. Her daily reports were very thorough and prompt. She really put our minds at ease while we were out of state knowing they were being well taken care of! You can tell she loves animals and cares about meeting our needs. 10/10 recommend Synthia! She's a real sweetheart.

I have booked Bryanna 6 times to take care of my cat, for stays ranging from 3 days to more than 2 weeks. The experience has continued to improve as she spends more time with my cat and understands his needs better. She is caring, and she has gone above and beyond by bringing a few toys from her home to keep my cat entertained when he gets bored with his own toys. She refreshes water, plays, refills food, gives treats, lets my cat out on the patio for fresh air, and helps with grooming. On some visits she was able to spend extra time with him, which I really appreciate. Time and punctuality: It is good to be aware, her visit window can vary based on her schedule.

About: I actually started watching dogs and cats for families I was babysitting and nannying for while they were out of town about four years ago. About 90% of my experience is with extended dog sitting in the owners home. While watching the dogs I not only let them out to potty but also walk them, play with them, and clean up any messes whether chewed or accidents that may occur! I have some owners who like me to stay overnight and others who do not and I am completely okay with either way. I am also comfortable administering medicine or changing bandages. I am always up for taking your dog places too, a dog park or for a bath or simple for a drive! I’m comfortable with cats, dogs, and a plethora of other animals. I can care for any of your loving animals! I hope to get to know you and your fur babies in the future! I currently am a stay at home mom. I have one school age child and a toddler. I am looking for bookings to be able to stay at home with my girls (and my two pups of course). School drop off/pick up is for a short time in the morning and in the late afternoon. Any walks or drop-ins would be scheduled around school drop off and pick up times! I care for pets as if they were my own. My goal is to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I follow each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible. This can look like feeding on schedule, giving fresh water, administering medications if needed. Each visit includes some play and cuddles too so they feel just as loved as when you are there!

About: I am not a professional but sometimes I believe that’s okay. I’ve had dogs since I can remember. I’ve always had such a big heart when it comes to animals. I worked at a shelter while I was in high school and the hardest for me was not bringin them all to my house. I have two dogs of my own. They’re both older girls and very very laid back and friendly. I think every dog has personality of their own and that’s what is beautiful about dogs. I think taking care of dogs is more than a chore or a job, i think it’s more of passion. In my opinion you have to love dogs to be able to take care of them the way they need. I hope I can be what you’re looking for.

Scott took great care of my very anxious golden retriever! Scott was reliable and kept Meeko on his schedule. He text me about his visits and sent me pictures. He not only let him out, he played with him in the backyard and took him for a walk. He even got Meeko to eat his food, which never happens when I am away! I highly recommend Scott and will definitely be using him again!

About: IVDD experienced dachshund mom with hands on rehab experience, plus years caring for rescue dogs and high energy heelers through walks, training, and overnight sitting with deep compassion. Pet care is a central part of my routine. With a part time job and flexible schedule, I’m able to prioritize walks, enrichment, and one-on-one attention so dogs feel safe, supported, and at home. Steph did an amazing job taking care of my two fur babies! One of them is special needs because he went blind about a year and a half ago, and I was really nervous because I haven’t left him since this happened. I’ve only ever boarded my dogs before and I’m a first-time Rover user but I would absolutely book with Steph again. She followed instructions, sent updates, and went above and beyond. Thank you so so much!

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Markleville stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Markleville. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
