“We are lucky our pup wanted to come home with us after staying with Sam & her family! It’s so comforting to have such true dog lovers look after your crazy family member in your absence. Thanks again, Sam.. our girl snored so loud last night!”

“Jim is a great sitter and you can tell he really cares about the dogs he watches. I was referred to Jim and know a few people who bring their dogs for him as well. Being a pet owner it’s the greatest relief to know your dogs are being well cared for and see your dog immediately trust him. He also updates you with photos so you know what they’re up to. I’ll definitely be reaching out to him in the future. Thanks!”

“Fernando was very accommodating and communicated a lot while he watched our babies. He sent lots of photos and was so kind to our pups we will definitely be booking with him again!”

“Natalie and her husband are the absolute best! They kept me updated on my pups with pictures and messages each day! Their home is beautiful and clean with lots of room for my pups to play. I am so grateful I found them and would highly recommend to everyone. I completely trust my 2 dogs with them and felt safe knowing they were in their care our whole trip!!!!! ❤️”

“Jennifer saved us with a last minute booking and it was a great experience for our pup. We will definitely book with her again. She kept us posted with updates and pics. Easy meet and greet because she only takes 1 animal at a time and does not have a pup, so I didn't need to worry about Sully getting along with another pup. Such a relief and peace of mind.”

“This was perfect for what I needed. We had no local friends or family that could take our cat. We were going to be away but he couldn't be at the house because we were having work done on it while we were gone. They took our cat into their home. I was surprised to see they had other cats when I arrived. But one question on the survey was if your pet does well with other cats, which he does, but cats tend to not be friendly with new cats initially so I was a bit worried they'd fight, but they had a separate area, a sun room that they allowed Sox to adjust in and during the week they had sent pictures of him being inside the home on the couch so obviously it was fine. I actually never met or dealt with Sarah only her Mom. Which I felt was odd. I was expecting the person pictured, the person I paid. Her Mom was lovely and clearly there were no issues and my cat was returned safely to me, I just felt it was odd the Sarah was sleeping or "resting because she works a lot" both times I was there. I didn't take any stars off my review for that, because again the service accomplished what I needed which was my cat to be cared for outside of my home.”

“Mollie was great with our dog! We were away for a week and received pictures and updates regularly. Our pup looked like she was well taken care of, Mollie is very nice and sweet! I definitely recommend her!”

“Janette and her family were so wonderful watching our new puppy Simon! She proactively sent updates and Simon was treated like a member of the family. We’ll definitely be repeat customers!”

“First time using Rover and with Andrew and Chelsea I hit the jackpot!! Beautiful home and land for my Lab/mix to run and play. From our meet and greet to picking up Macy at the end of her stay everything was perfect! Thank you Andrew & Chelsea. I would definitely board with them again.”

“Zen had a very nice stay with Tim and his family. She LOVES kids and Tim provided plenty of opportunities for playtime with them and with his 2 small dogs. Drop-off and pickup were super easy. It was a nice bonus to receive a couple pictures of Zen while we were away. We would certainly select Tim again if he is available! 😀”

“Kaylee was AMAZING! Not only did she take great care of my pup, but she was super detailed and sweet - made him Easter egg treats 🥚💕 to take home! Kept me posted with adorable pics too. Highly recommend!”

“Mary was absolutely amazing with my dog, Nova! She took such great care of her, kept me updated with photos and messages, and made me feel completely at ease while I was away. I could tell Mary genuinely cares about the pets she watches. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!”

“Joel was fantastic! He updated us daily with photos and let us know how our pup was doing. He also met up with us twice to ensure our dogs got along and offered some great advise on training. I felt very comfortable with our dog staying there and hope we can leave our dog with Joel next time we are away!”

“Shiena and Jason hosted our fur baby Bailey for two nights. They were awesome hosts and sent us pictures of Bailey throughout his stay. Bailey had enjoyed his stay and had a smile on his face the whole way home. I would recommend them to anyone looking for someone they could trust to watch over their pets while they are away.”

“Meagen is your dogs home away from home. We left Charly for the first time with her in February and we have used Meagen several times since. She welcomes your pup at the front door like it is her own. Charly comes back to our home like she never left. When we are away Meagen keeps us updated with pictures and videos . I could not enjoy my time away if Charly wasn’t with Meagen and her family!!!!”

“Sheryl is sensitive to the needs of her canine guests. My dog, Rufus, is older and doesn’t run with the big dogs. Sheryl understood that Rufus needs a quieter environment. I felt good that Sheryl provided a safe place for Rufus while we were on vacation. I will rebook with her.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Lorane home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Lorane.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Lorane sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in PA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
