“We had a last-minute need for a cat sitter, and Melissa came to the rescue! She took great care of Loki, was timely with communication, and shared photos and notes from her visits.”

“Daniel is a phenomenal sitter and allowed our dogs to feel at ease. He’s extremely thorough and ensures their well-being is paramount. Cannot recommend Daniel highly enough!”

“Andrew was a great sitter for our guinea pig Jasper. He’s very thoughtful, attentive and follows directions well. Having such a great sitter makes going away easier. We will book him in the future! He also took care of my herbs while we were away which was also much appreciated.”

“Amanda was absolutely wonderful with our dogs and treated them as her own. She was super caring and attentive and made sure they were well taken care of. Would absolutely recommend her for any of your Rover needs!”

“Julianna was nothing but amazing. She took great care of my three dogs and even spent some time walking and playing with them to help burn off energy. She communicated well by asking questions which showed she genuinely cared for my dogs rather than just earning a check. One of them had an accident throughout Julianna’s visit but she didn’t hesitate to help with clean up and I’m extremely grateful for that. I highly recommend using her and plan to do so again myself in the near future.”

“Jackie was very nice, came to meet me before she started and was here when expected. She had to clean up more than her fair share of pee with a new puppy and a jealous brother dog. Thanks Jackie for coming on short notice as well!!”
“Alyssa was amazing with my dog! My Daisy can be a bit anxious but Alyssa got her to warm right up. The peace of mind knowing my dog was being so we'll taken care of while I was away made travelling much less stressful. Alyssa also took the best photos of Daisy I've ever seen and it was such a treat to see them while I was away. I can't express enough how grateful I was for Daisy to be in such great hands!”

About: I've had guinea pigs all my life, and I have taken care of my friends and families dogs and cats. Taking care of animals is a huge passion of mine, and I take it very seriously I have a lot of free time on my hands and would be available anytime of the week. If something does come up on my schedule I will let you know. I would prefer to take care of your animals in your own home and would be able to stay over or check in on them as much as you want.
“Whitney is punctual, dependable and very kind to our animals. She completes all tasks as required and goes above and beyond. This is our first time using the service and we are thrilled. we will continue to use Whitney and the Service in the future, and look forward to a long time relationship with her.”

“Breanna has been such a joy to work with! She has even taken on George's disability and special needs with kindness and professionalism! Every need is met & instruction carried out. Honestly though, the biggest reason I know how perfectly Breanna's care has been are the happy barks & bounces from George when I mention her name! I highly recommend her! So does George (9 yr old corgi with IVDD paralysis)”

They have their own room and beds. My pups have lots of toys so you don’t have to worry about bringing any, as we can share!! We have a fenced in yard with plenty of running space and a screened in porch right at the entrance door (to the side of house) which leads out to the fenced in yard . Please feel free to look up OPK French Bulldogs 🥳 Thank you for considering me to watch your fur babies!!! Puppies available now 🥰 I work but I am able to come home in the middle of the day or whenever I would need to, to let my pups out to go potty and check up with them. I can be flexible ,I also have cameras to see what they’re doing when I’m not home. I give exceptional care for my dogs and I care for others pets the same as my own!! 🩷💙🤍 We have a big house, plenty of space to roam and a great fenced in back yard with screened in porch to ensure every pets safety!!!

About: I've had dogs in my life since I was in my 20s. I have crate and potty trained all my dogs. I have patience and compassion for dogs. I would often meet up with friends and family at house party gathering and dog park gatherings to socialize my dogs and to show them love, companionship, and that they are a member of the family not only a pet. I've kept and cared for dogs until there dying age and paid for there cremation. I am indeed a dog loving person. I am currently taking care of my mom who has dementia 24/7 and I am home with her all day. The only days I'm out the house is when my mom or myself have a doctor's appointment. The time I have during the day, I can do dog walks and drop by to feed and let your dog out to your yard. I currently have a chiwawa mix dog name Romeo and he is fed, taken out for walks and sleeps on my sofa everyday. He is encouraged to play, fetch and have treats as rewards. He is shown love everyday and has all his shots and vet visits up to date.
About: I've been caring for dogs on Rover since 2017, and after 9 years, I've had the privilege of caring for all kinds of personalities, routines, and needs. I absolutely adore animals, and when you leave your dog with me, my goal is for them to feel safe, comfortable, loved, and right at home. I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet. That's why I keep owners updated with plenty of photos and videos throughout their pet's stay or visit. You'll be able to see how they're doing, what we're up to, and most importantly, that they're happy and being well cared for. I'm available for house sitting, drop-in visits, dog walking, boarding, and daycare, depending on your dog's needs. For house sitting, I can keep your dog's normal routine as consistent as possible while you're away. For drop-ins, I can provide meals, potty breaks, playtime, and companionship. And for walks, I'm happy to give your dog the exercise and enrichment they need. I also enjoy exercising myself, so energetic dogs are welcome to get some extra activity. There's a peaceful bike trail near my home that's a great place for walks, and I enjoy spending time outdoors with the dogs I care for. I'm flexible with my schedule and can accommodate longer stays when needed. I'm also happy to work with dogs who have specific routines, medications, senior-care needs, or other special requirements. Most importantly, I want your dog to have a positive experience while you're away. Whether we're going for a walk, playing in the yard, relaxing together, or simply keeping each other company, I want them to feel like they're spending time with someone they can trust. 9 years on Rover • 100+ five-star reviews • Frequent photo/video updates • Personalized care Thank you for considering me to care for your best friend! ❤️ I have a flexible schedule and can often accommodate different routines, including longer stays and last-minute requests when my availability allows. A few important updates about my availability: At this time, I can accommodate a maximum of 3 dogs from the same household for boarding/daycare. I am not currently able to combine dogs from multiple households. I am also balancing my schedule with college, so I limit the number of dogs I take at one time to make sure every pet receives the attention and care they deserve. For boarding/daycare, I require a confirmed booking before arranging a Meet & Greet. This allows me to keep my home and schedule organized while protecting everyone's privacy. Please note that I do not have a car, so I am unable to provide pickup or drop-off services. Thank you for understanding, and I look forward to meeting you and your furry family member! Your dog's safety comes first. I have a fully fenced yard where dogs can enjoy some outdoor time and stretch their legs without leaving the property. I also supervise dogs while they are outside rather than simply letting them out unattended. For boarding and daycare, I require dogs to be comfortable with crate use. Crates provide a safe place for dogs when I need to shower, sleep, run an errand, or otherwise cannot directly supervise them. I view the crate as a safety tool and want every dog to have a secure, comfortable space of their own. I'll also follow the routines and safety instructions you provide so I can care for your dog in a way that is familiar to them.
“Samantha took great care of my cats while I was away, keeping them entertained and spending quality time with them daily. really appreciate the effort that was put in!!”
“Simone was outstanding in dropping in and caring for my dog at home. She was supper attentive and supportive to his needs, and took the time to let him warm up to her. Would absolutely recommend Simone and will definitely be using her again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Leinbachs
Lily did a great job taking care of my fur babies! She sent me pictures with my babies. She sat in the yard and played with them. Gave them lots of love! Also, did a fantastic job keeping the pens and floor clean along with fresh bedding, food and water. I was anxious about having someone else take care of my babies but she eased my anxiety with how good she was with them. My babies were comfortable with her as well which made it even better. Definitely recommend!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
