About: Hi, I'm Sam and I've had dogs in my life since childhood. I have two rescues that I adopted at ten weeks. They both have big, incredibly different personalities that have given me plenty of experience, especially after my son was born in 2019. I have always loved animals, and decided to use Rover after a friend was out of town and had a client she asked me to assist. She raved about pet sitting and I really enjoyed it. I love meeting new pets & people, & look forward to helping you have stress free time away wether that’s for an overnight vacation, or drop ins or walks to give you peace of mind when you can’t be with them. I treat all of my animal clients as if they were my own, and am highly accommodating to pet parents. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask! I am willing to work with your situation as best I can 😊 I currently have very flexible availability and can be with your pet as much or as little as you need! I have care arrangements for my pets & son, so it can just be me and your pup! About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember and have been pet-sitting since age 10 for family, friends, and neighbors. I have almost always lived with at least one cat or dog (or both!) throughout my life. I also have experience caring for rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, fish, parakeets, bearded dragons, and cockatiels. I currently live with two indoor tortoiseshell cats who are comfortable with dogs, and one of my cats is leash-trained. I have raised and trained at least 11 dogs from puppies to adulthood (3 as my own and the others for my parents). Most of my cats I adopted as teenagers, but I have raised a few kittens from a young age. I have done extensive dog training with the 3 dogs I raised as my own in the past, and I am familiar with both dog and cat training techniques. I live in a cabin the woods in Boston, NY, on a power line gravel road. Although I do not have a fenced in back yard, your dog will enjoy going on leashed walks down the power line road multiple times per day! I earn a living through a mix of substitute teaching (summer starts June 25th!), remote research and writing gigs, tutoring, child care, and pet care. I have a flexible schedule and incorporate pet care into the mix as much as possible because I love animals. If I am boarding a dog at my home, I will not be house sitting at that time (and vice versa). While boarding or house sitting, I will consider dog walking and drop-ins depending on the needs of the client and driving distance. If you board your dog at my home, my cats and I wake up early (about 6am) and I like to go outside for a walk down the power line road right away, and then eat breakfast. Your dog will be able to spend time with me all day (on a leash when we are outside), and if I need to leave my house, they will be in their crate for no more than 4 hours (2 is my strong preference). We will go for at least one more walk before dinner, too. I will be sure to give them plenty of play time and exercise throughout the day (depending on their level of activity and how hot it is outside). No matter what, they will get a lot of love and attention! I live in a cabin in the woods in the Town of Boston, NY, so although I do not have a fenced-in yard, there is very little traffic or people around. I will be able to go on long leashed walks with your dog down the power line for exercise, and there are a few friendly neighbor dogs that would love to say hello if your dog is up for that. I do live with two cats: one of them will hide a lot while your dog is here, but the other is very dog-friendly and will want to interact with your dog. I will monitor and separate them as needed (I have a spare room). I have always crate-trained my dogs and so long as your dog is comfortable in their crate, I will use it as a safe place for them to be while they are staying with me.

I work outside the home but have flexibility to take breaks and come home throughout the day for walks, potty breaks, playtime, feeding, and check-ins. I understand every pet has their own routine and energy level, and I do my best to keep them comfortable, active, and cared for while you’re away. Creating a safe, comfortable, and trustworthy environment is very important to us. I've had my dog Layla since she was 3 months old and she’s now 9, so I understand how important it is to leave your pet with someone who treats them like family. I follow each pet parent’s instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walks, routines, medications (if applicable), and preferred care styles. I offer boarding in our spacious two-bedroom apartment with access to nice grassy areas nearby for walks, potty breaks, and outdoor time. Small dogs are welcome on the furniture if that’s part of their normal routine and helps them feel more comfortable and at home. I also have our friendly dog Layla, who is already used to sharing her space and being around other pets, helping create a welcoming and pet-friendly environment. Our goal is to make every fur baby feel safe, relaxed, and cared for while you’re away.
