“The girls were great, they cleaned up after themselves, including washing and folding their towels. Our dogs are pretty codependent and so they had to cuddle with them most of the time. It appears they followed the directions for feeding and medication’s. We will definitely use them in the future again.”

About: I have had a few dogs from friends and families that I have taken care of over the years for free. I have my own dog that I have had since he was a puppy that is very well trained would love to meet other dogs and experience new fur friends. I work at home and I take breaks very very often. I go to my backyard and even parks just to walk. I would love to take them for walks as well. I have a fenced in backyard and my dogs go out often. Morning, Afternoon, and 2 times in the evening. Just to make sure dogs use the bathroom and get that energy out before they fall asleep.

About: I am a nature lover! I enjoy taking my dogs, Rosemary & Kuzca, on exciting hikes and engaging adventures. We love visiting the river, the dog park, hitting nature trails around town, and quality play time at home. I also love cuddling up with my cat, Bee, when she will let me! I have always loved animals and wanted animal companions since I was a child. From dogs & cats to birds to snakes, the list of animals I’ve had under my care goes on. One thing that sets me apart is my desire to provide exquisite care for my furry/scaly/feathered friends. Every animal deserves to live a high quality life and it brings me so much joy to provide them with that. I continuously grow as a pet parent. I’m always researching new ways to improve my care techniques by staying up to date on things like nutrition, stimulation, and training. I work from home and decide my own schedule so I have a lot of flexibility in how I want to shape my day. This makes it so convenient for taking care of fur babies! We have a fenced yard that is perfect for a short zoomie sesh. Plus we have a gated dog park in our community that we frequent. I always try and incorporate as much outside time as possible.

I love to run and if your dog would like to run on our walks, I’m happy to get in a run together for extra exercise! I’m an early riser and can give walks/runs in the AM on the weekdays. Weekends I love to spend my time when I can with pets! I am very respectful of any rules in client’s homes and will leave any toys etc. where they belong. Communication is very important! If you communicate your dogs needs or style I will accommodate to them.

About: I have hands-on experience caring for animals through my work as a veterinary technician, where I have developed strong skills in animal handling, administering medications, monitoring health and behavior, providing nutritional support, and ensuring pets feel safe and comfortable. I am confident handling dogs of different sizes, breeds, temperaments, and energy levels, including those who may be nervous, anxious, or need extra patience and gentle care. I understand the importance of recognizing changes in behavior, following specific care instructions, maintaining proper hygiene, and prioritizing every pet’s safety and well-being. Above all, I am passionate about providing loving, attentive, and dependable care. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, feeding, medication, or simply some extra love and companionship, I will treat them like family and make sure they feel comfortable, happy, and cared for while you’re away. I currently work full time as a veterinary technician, but I’m available Saturday’s and Sundays all day, including overnight to pet sit your fur babies. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. As someone with hands-on veterinary experience, I understand how important it is to provide a safe, calm, and loving environment where pets feel secure and cared for. I take the time to learn each pet’s personality, routine, and individual needs to ensure they receive personalized attention and compassionate care. I am attentive to their behavior, practice safe handling, follow feeding and medication instructions carefully, and take extra precautions during walks, playtime, and interactions with other animals. I live in a one bedroom apt where I have dog park access as well as a bathing room. I also believe communication is essential, so I am happy to provide regular updates and photos to give you peace of mind while you’re away. My goal is to make every pet feel comfortable, loved, and at home while giving their owners confidence that their furry family members are in trustworthy, caring hands.

About: I am usually always available, I have tons of dog care experience. I am more than willing to go over and above for your dog, and your peace of mind! I am stay at home looking to make some cash so I’m available pretty much all the time I do except some same-day bookings because of my unique schedule, most of the time when I leave the home it’s for very short period of time so even pups with separation anxiety can be happy! Being a pet parent myself I know how hard it can be to find a reliable helper, my biggest goal is to get long term clients and bond with the pets insuring everyone’s comfortability! Although I don’t have a yard I do have multiple leashes/collars and a play park at my disposal! I love walking & podcasting so your dog won’t go without exercise.

“It’s clear that Emily genuinely LOVES dogs, it’s not just a job to her. My super anxious cocker warmed up to her right away at our meet and greet. Emily updated me throughout the weekend and it was clear she was giving him all the TLC and attention he needs. She truly spoiled my pup! She went above and beyond by doing laundry and tidying up the house before my arrival. Couldn’t of asked for a better dog sitter! We hope to be able to book her again in the future (but now I see why she is so booked up months in advance-she’s AMAZING).”

About: As a veterinary technician at an ER clinic, I care for hundreds of dogs and cats each year and have hands-on experience with medication administration, injections, diabetic pets, seizure disorders, special-needs animals, post-operative care, anxious or fearful pets, training staff on protocols, and teaching fellow fosters as well as adopters on animal care and behavior. I am also an accomplished foster who has hosted everything from queen cats nursing kittens to weaned kittens, puppies, dogs, and senior animals. Your pet's safety, comfort, and well-being are always my top priorities and I approach every animal with fear-free handling! Lifelong animal lover and former small business owner, I've spent years working with animals of all kinds through veterinary medicine, 4-H, fostering, and therapeutic horseback riding programs. My flexible schedule allows me to provide attentive care throughout the day, and Blink cameras throughout my home help me monitor pets whenever I'm away briefly. I treat every pet as if they were my own, providing plenty of love, enrichment, exercise, and individualized attention. Located near nature trails and a large enclosed outdoor area, I offer a safe, comfortable environment where your furry family members can relax, play, and feel right at home. My schedule is very flexible and I am able to take breaks as needed throughout my work days. I do not work on weekends, so I am always at home to attend to the critters! I am also available holidays. With experience caring for orphaned animals daily, including those requiring medications and specialized care, I prioritize your pet's health, safety, and happiness. My flexible schedule, attentive monitoring, and pet-friendly space with enrichment activities, cozy resting areas, and nearby outdoor access ensure your beloved companion receives compassionate, professional care while you're away. 🐾

FAQs for House Sitting - Kirtley

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kirtley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kirtley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kirtley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
