“So reliable and did great with my shy kitty! This is my second booking and I will absolutely book again any time I need someone to come hang out with my little guy! She is very attentive and sends cute photos to keep me updated.”

About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover with 18 years of experience working in veterinary hospitals, and caring for pets is truly my passion. I’m especially a cat fanatic—I currently have 7 cats and 2 dogs of my own, so my home is definitely a full house of furry personalities! My veterinary experience has given me the knowledge and confidence to care for pets with a variety of needs. I’m comfortable administering oral, topical, and injectable medications, and I understand how important it is to follow each pet’s individual care instructions carefully. Whether your pet needs medication, extra patience, lots of cuddles, or simply someone trustworthy to keep them company while you're away, I’ll treat them with the same care and attention I give my own pets. Your pets aren’t just animals in my care—they’re family. 🐱🐶❤️ Flexible work from home schedule. My work days start and end earlier than most which may allow for early riser visits. Available any time on weekends and evenings. During my care your pet will receive as close to the same attention they would receive if you were home - lots of love, snuggles, and play. I am not currently offering pet care in my home at this time. This may be something I offer at a later date or may consider on a case by case basis.
“She is so sweet to our fur baby! She is always on time and gives us great report cards of her visit. I would definitely keep using her as long as she wants to visit! I highly recommend her to watch over your furbaby!”

“Kailyn was such a professional! We used her services while traveling to Auburn, AL. She took such good care of our guy and gave updates throughout. It was so nice to know that our little doggo was looked after while at the Iron Bowl and post game major traffic! A+”

“Five stars isn't enough! I left my cat, Berlioz, in Jordyn’s care and she went completely above and beyond. Berlioz can be a bit particular with new people, but she instantly put him at ease. I received detailed daily updates, awesome photos, and complete peace of mind knowing he was being so well taken care of. She didn't just cover the basics like feeding and litter box duty—she spent genuine quality time with him and gave him extra affection. I came home to a super happy, relaxed cat. I’ll definitely be rebooking next time I'm away!”

“Tara went above and beyond, she helped with our dog while we were traveling all the way from Maryland. She was very professional and great with our Roscoe. She was so helpful, even before we arrived to help us plan out how we would navigate our day. Highly recommend her services!!”

I will provide the right care your animal is needed, just like if it was my own pet. I work full time Monday-Thursday from 8-3pm. I have plenty of time to take care of animals and I will do everything in my power to make sure your animal is well taken care of. I have a safe environment in my home. I live in a safe household and enough space for your animals to roam and play as they would need. I also have security cameras as well to provide extra protection.
About: I worked in vet medicine for 2 years prior to perusing my career in nursing. I just moved to Birmingham and would love to meet some of your fur babies and treat them like they are my own. I am currently a new grad nurse working in Birmingham! At this moment I am only available for short term stays due to needing to be gone for 12 hours when I’m at work. I would love to give your pets all my attention when I’m not at work! I only offer watching your pets in your home, I am more than welcome to accommodate walks around a neighborhood, or watching them play in the yard. I enjoy doing both!

About: I own a Belgian Malinios + a Pitbull/Australian Shepherd mix. I will pet sit any fur baby you need me to! Before those pets I had a German Shepherd. I would love to take care of your baby and keep it safe and content while you get away from home wether it be for work, vacation, or medical. I have school, Monday-Thursday from 7:45am-11:45am. Once i come home i am able to come and pet sit. I have routines for my own animals so if you have a routine i would love to know it so i can abide! I have no current job due to personal issues but i have transportation. I drive myself there and i will have plenty time to play, care for, and keep your sweetheart safe. I keep one of my dogs in a large pen outside to keep him off the road. I go out to play with him 2-3 hours every day. With my puppy she stays inside and we play after every long nap she has and makes sure she goes outside with me very 30 minutes to ensure no accidents. If she has one it is immediately cleaned up and sanitized! She also gets enforced nap time in her crate to ensure she gets proper rest when she refuses her sleep times and becomes restless. I do not hit animals i just bring them outside for a bit until their next potty and reward. As for my cats they live inside with a litter box that is emptied out every other day. They get played with after their naps and i make sure no accidents happen on the floor with them.

About: I’ve always been around animals and naturally treat pets like family. I’m patient, attentive, and good at reading animal behavior, especially with nervous, energetic, or stubborn pets lol. I understand that every pet has their own personality and routine, so I try to keep them comfortable, safe, and stress-free while their owners are away. I’m dependable with feeding schedules, potty breaks, walks, playtime, cleanup, and giving pets attention instead of just “checking in and leaving.” I also know how important communication is, so I make sure owners stay updated with messages and pictures. Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I’m used to being active throughout the day and handling responsibilities that require consistency and attention. I can work around feeding schedules, potty breaks, walks, medication reminders, and playtime. I understand pets need stability and patience, especially when their owners are away, so I make sure they get attention, exercise, and care instead of just being left alone. I also try to stay flexible for last-minute needs when possible. Cats have their own quiet, separate space where they can feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed without needing to interact with dogs unless they’re comfortable doing so. I understand cats usually do best with calm environments, patience, and giving them space to adjust at their own pace. 🐱

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
