“Michelle and her family have been a godsend to our family. Not only have their family been wonderful to work with, our dog gets treated just like family while there. Her son has even formed a special bond with our dog. I highly recommend her and we won't ever look back at doing the typical dog kennels again!”

“They were great! They sent multiple updates and were amazing about keeping us in the loop. Needed to book last minute and they were very accommodating and were available and worked with us!”

“Alesia and family treated Buddy as a family member. Buddy is older and likes his space from other dogs and Alesia made sure he was able to have a place to go to get away from the other more active dogs. We will definitely book again!”

“Christina and her family were the ABSOLUTE BEST! They took such good care of my fur babies while away on a trip! Taking care of two high energy dogs is no easy thing to do and my expectations for this rover stay were exceeded. The daily updates left me feeling at peace knowing my dogs were being loved on while I was away. Would most definitely trust Christina with the care of my dogs again.”

“Larysa was great!Buddy had the best time at their home .. he had lots of walks and playtime playing ball in their yard and went to the dog park several times in the week we were away! She gave great updates and pictures and videos daily .. we so appreciate her care and love she and Jake gave to r dog .. their dog was so welcoming and they got along great.. thank u for helping us have a great time away not worrying about our dogcare! We will for sure call again as Buddy will miss them 🥰”

“Rachel and her family did great with my little one. She updated me every day with pictures and videos and a complete report of each day. They welcome Coco as one more of their family and he received lot of attention and care during the stay. I totally recommend them and definitely I will book again with her.”

“Shayla took excellent care of my dog, Sadie. She has a beautiful big fenced yard where Sadie and her dog played together. Every day, Shayla sent me texts with pictures and an explanation of how Sadie was doing. That was very thoughtful of her. I know Sadie will love to go back there again.”

“My dogs didn’t want to come home. Great yard, clean. Great family very kind, friendly. My dogs will stay here when needed. There dogs are friendly Harley is Freddie’s best friend.”

“Lisa was a wonderful human to Zeke while I got out of town for a weekend. She sent me a note and a pic of Zeke each day. He was very relaxed. I would say Lisa provided a home away from home. She will be my first call when I need extended care for him again.”

“This was my first time using Rover and/or boarding our cat. Maria was so kind and thoughtful with answering all my questions and giving updates! Every picture she sent really showed how comfortable my cat was getting and that she was making sure to give him love and attention. We would absolutely use her again and recommend her to anyone.”

“Tony was fantastic, he treated our dog just like his own, my dog is very very high energy and is a breed a lot of people are afraid to take care of and he had no problems taking care of her, he sent me photos and videos and my dog was so happy and was having a lot of fun, Tony was ok with giving my dog her medicine she needs daily, Tony and his family were Jems! My dog can be extra and she is hard to handle at times due to her strength so I was nervous taking her to anyone until I got to his house and instantly knew my dog was in good hands, I will definitely be using his services again! I HIGHLY recommend Tony, you can tell this is his passion! Thank you so much Tony for taking such great care of our Maizy dog!!!”

“Heather and her family took amazing care of our sweet Melah. I received Video & pics of Melah throughout the stay. I know she was being well cared for. Big back yard to run in as well. We will definitely book with Heather again!”

“Very nice, loving family - your pets will be happy and well taken care of. We felt very safe leaving our 14 year old bospin Bailey with Tara’s family, and received numerous updates with photos and videos while we were traveling. We’ll book again!”

About: I’ve grown up with medium to large dogs my entire life. My best friend was a goofy Great Dane who I had him for all 9 years of his life. We would go on long walks around the 2 college campuses I live next to. I have my own house with plenty of space and yard to run around in. I have a large couch and an extra large bed that I don’t mind them being on. I like to keep a relaxed lifestyle perfect for a dog to relax at while you are away. I also have 2 dog friendly cats and one really loves to play around and chase and get chased by the dogs I’ve watched in the past. I am always taking care of my 2 cats and when I had a dog we would go out every 5-6 hours and take walks 3-4 times a week. The animals in my life have always been my number 1 priority. I have multiple leashes and would never take a dog out without it on. I also have multiple litter boxes for the cats. I also have multiple floors for the cats to stay on if someone doesn’t get along with another.
“Kayla was great! I got frequent updates to know Stella was in good hands. She took her for walks and to the park and got some cuddles in. After I picked Stella up she fell asleep in the car during the ride home so must have had a great time!”

“Justin and his family did an awesome job taking care of Mr. Wiggins while we were gone! Good communication and care, he was so relaxed when we picked him up, so we could tell he loved staying with his new friends. Thanks to all of you, from Wiggy!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Inwood home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Inwood.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Inwood sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
