“Yulissa was very friendly and really cared and took care of my pup while I was away. She was also very flexible and was able to accommodate a schedule shift when my plans went a bit longer than expected. 10/10!”

“We were SUPER pleased with Saroj as a sitter for our pup! Her house and grounds are BEAUTIFUL and she and her husband were lovely, kind people. If you are looking for a superb and safe place for your pets, book with Saroj! PS: IKEA is very near Saroj's house!”

“We are so thankful to have found Jim. We had a last minute issue finding coverage for our 9 month old puppy for a day trip and he was able to take her for a day care day last minute. He sent us pictures of her throughout the day and she came home super happy and super exhausted. Jim is so accommodative and friendly and we are so thankful to have found him. We are planning to use his services for a longer vacation over the summer. Highly recommend Jim if you’re in need of someone to watch your furbaby.”

About: "Always do the right thing even when no one's watching." With decades of experience caring for big/small pups, cats, farm animals, Guinea pigs, and more, I offer a cozy & loving environment in my peaceful Cottage-style home for your furr babie(s). I have a big fenced yard for the pups to securely play, run, and a convenient doggy door for their convenience. Your pup will get lots of love and cuddles, guaranteed. ❤️ IMPORTANT: When requesting to book me, you will be promoted to select one of the two services I provide: The first is "Boarding", which means your pup will stay with me overnight for consecutive days in a row and getting lots of love and endless attention 🤗. The second service is "Doggy Day Care", consisting of your pup being dropped off by you (or designated guardian) and picked up that same day by you or guardian of choice. This also means your pup might get to play with other client's fur baby in my home for Doggy Day Care, and not staying overnight. If your fur baby requires overnight care even on a day that is not consecutive, and you prefer they're not around other client's pets but mine (Teddy & Daphne), then the service you want is definitely "Boarding". Happy to clarify this with you during our first Meet'n Greet" and modify the booking for you if necessary. ❤️ Thank you so much 😊 I'm the favorite aunt of many furry babies care for within the safety of my home for friends and families. I'd be so happy to provide the care and love to fur babies needing a getaway while their parents go on vacation :). If you're interested in a house visit or a meet'n greet for your pup(s) to meet my two little pups before booking, that works great! Simply send me a message and I'll coordinate with you :) I am available holidays too!! Warm Hugs! ENVIRONMENT: I have a 0.22 acre fenced yard, a doggy door, a patio with a Ring Camera and sensor lights. I have cameras all around the house as well and will never walk the babies without their leash and harness. Your pups will not leave my premises or be under the care of no one else but me. Depending on what service you need, the pups sleep with me, and will receive endless cuddles, and meals (following the owner's instructions), and will get along with my very two friendly small dogs, Teddy and Daphne.
“Cindy has been so kind and welcoming since the first time we met her. She takes great care of our Lab, Wesley, and we know he will always have a great day with her and Bella. We will continue to use Cindy in the future for dog sitting. Thank you so much for being responsive and reliable!”

“Tracey is our life saver! We can always count on her to watch our fur baby, Bix. Bix always looks happy with tail wagging when we pick her up, giving Tracey a few hops and kisses before we take her home. Thank you, Tracey, for taking such good care of our dog.”

About: I’ve spent years taking care of pets—from shy seniors to high-energy pups—and I really take the time to get to know what each one needs to feel happy and comfortable. I’m super patient, and I love finding the little things that make each pet light up, whether that’s a favorite toy or a long walk! My goal is to make your pet feel safe, loved, and totally at home while you’re away. Pet care is already a big part of my everyday routine. I plan my schedule around feeding times, walks, play sessions, and check-ins, so giving pets consistent care fits really smoothly into my day. Whether it’s morning walks, midday drop-ins, or evening chill time, I make sure each pet gets the attention and structure they’re used to. Even on busy weeks, I carve out dedicated time so every animal I’m caring for gets patience, affection, and a routine that feels familiar to them. I listen to you. In my home, I keep pets on their usual routine and make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and loved. If I’m at a client’s home, I follow their rules and their pet’s normal schedule so everything feels familiar.

About: Hi, I’m Emma! Animals have always brought me the most peace and joy so naturally, dogsitting is one of my favorite things! I have experience with senior dogs, puppies, timid pets, and can administer medication. I will treat your pet like the king or queen they are and provide them with love and comfort! I currently am a sophomore in community college with a flexible schedule which gives me plenty of time to care for your pet! I have my own transportation that makes my availability open and free. I spend a lot of time getting to know an animal to in-force trust and to create a comfortable environment . In my experience, I notice that this is key to easing any pet that is feeling weary about their owner not being present. This gives me room to follow instructions such as walks, medications, etc. effectively.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 3,657 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Independent Hill. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Independent Hill commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 3,657 sitters in Independent Hill, 86% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
