“Audra and her son Jordan were amazing with our dog. They kept us informed with pictures and updates, and we never worried once because we knew our sweet pup was in caring, loving hands. Great experience from start to finish!❤️🐶”
“Excellent communication, caring, affectionate, loving, respectful, and sincere. I felt released that Holly sends several videos and pictures while I was out of town. Holly is a great job!! Awesome!!”
“Nate did a great job with Hank. Hank had a great time with Nate and enjoyed his walks. He was thrilled to have a playmate as well! Hank and Nash seemed to really enjoy playing together. It was really nice getting pictures of Nash and Hank playing. We will definitely use Nate again.”
“Our dogs were in great hands while we were gone. She sent pics and updates which we enjoyed. The dogs looked very content in their new surroundings. I will definitely call Pam whenever we need a pet sitter. She was excellent and the dogs were happy to see us. Thank you so much Pam and family!”
“She was very attentive to the individual needs of both of our dogs. The daily pictures and full report after were both appreciated. Our dogs will be back.”
“She was very communicative with me the entire time skylar was in her care. She did an amazing job taking care of my baby. I would definitely recommend her services to any family or friends.”
“Couldn’t have asked for a better person to watch my two aussiedoodles for the week. Christina was so caring and very professional. I was able to book on short notice and pickup and drop off when it worked for me. She treated my pups like they were hers and sent pictures of them going to the park, playing basketball, and cuddling up with her. I’m so grateful for such an amazing sitter that truly has a passion for caring for animals.”
“Grainne loved these sitters. She was well cared for. When I picked her up, they (tactfully) asked about her wheezing (I’d forgotten to tell them). I think that showed me their love of animals. I would definitely ask them to sit again. They also worked with me on pick up and drop off times. Nice people.”
About: My whole life I have always preferred animals over humans so as an adult my goal has been to turn it into my profession. I have cared for all kinds of animals from bugs to sheep, the least being livestock but i would love to learn more and better my skills in every way I can. With animals I am always down for whatever can or will come my way. In the most recent years I have been doing a lot of work with the pups that are a little extra spicy✨ after finding my own dog in a corn field and her ending up with reactivity and aggression, it really opened my mind to not just be a dog lover but someone who understands dog behavior to be able to keep them happy☺️ Unless I am out of town(rarely happens) I can almost always make it work! Even if it’s adding an xtra visit to make sure your baby gets everything they need🫶🏻 I care for every animal like I would my own babies. I like to keep things as close to normal for them as possible so never feel like you are telling me too much!
“It was our first time leaving our puppy, and Kari took excellent care of him while we were away. She responded immediately every time I reached out. Wonderful people and home.”
About: I have had animals from the time I was a toddler. I have cared for small and large dogs, cats, lizards, rabbits, fish, gerbils, and various farm animals. I will love and care for your animals like my own! I have plenty of availability to care for your animals, just call me or send me a message and I can get to you asap! I will respect your home and make sure the animals are cared for as well as I care for my own! If you need me to clean up anything, I can do that as well. A clean environment always helps me have a fresh mindset!
“Lindsay was great with Belle. She knew I was concerned because it was her first visit. She updated me with pictures and let me know how she was doing. I will definitely take Belle to Lindsay’s again.”
About: I have experience with all kinds of pets. From reptiles, felines, and mixed breed pups, to Pit Bulls and German Shepherds. I love them all 🫶🏾 I work from home for a minimal contact tech company. After my little ones leave for school at 8:30 AM, my schedule is completely flexible. We miss having fur babies around and will treat them as part of our family. I have mild mannered boys 8 and 6 that love nature and animals.
“Ashley was absolutely amazing with Ark! He is a young, high-energy puppy who can definitely be a handful, but she took such great care of him and kept me updated throughout his stay. It was clear that she was patient, attentive, and genuinely cared about his well-being. Ark came home happy, healthy, and tired—which is not an easy accomplishment! I also really appreciated how welcoming she was and how comfortable she made the whole experience. I would trust her with Ark again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter. Thank you so much for everything, Ashley!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Illiopolis home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Illiopolis.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Illiopolis sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
