Samantha was GREAT! We were away for a week and she took great care of my Bailey who is extremely spoiled and a very picky eater. Samantha did a better job at getting her to eat than I can. She treated my baby like her own, I know this because I have a camera in my kitchen so I could see Bailey. As we all know dogs know good people…and Bailey would get just as excited to see her as she does us when we come in the door. I highly recommend Samantha. This was my first time using Rover and I would again. FANTASTIC job Samantha! Thank You!!!!

About: Hi! I’m Danielle, a stay-at-home mom to our beautiful baby girl. Before parenthood, I worked at a veterinary clinic specializing in fear-free handling, surgeries, emergencies, grooming, and advanced medicine—giving me hands-on experience with all kinds of animals, from dogs and cats to reptiles, small mammals, birds, and aquatics. We recently said goodbye to our beloved dog after a battle with cancer, and the quiet house has us excited to open our home for dog boarding again. With my vet background and a passion for compassionate care, I provide a loving, low-stress environment tailored to each pet’s needs. As a full-time mom, I’m home during the day to offer plenty of attention, playtime, walks, and enrichment. I prioritize meet-and-greets (completely free!) to ensure we’re a great match for you and your pet before any booking. Whether your dog needs medication support, post-surgery monitoring, or just lots of cuddles and fun, I’d love to care for them like family. Feel free to reach out with any questions. I look forward to meeting you and your furry friends! I work from home, therefore I am free 24-7 to help take care of your animals and help meet your needs while they are in my care. I have a fenced in yard, and I do ask that your pet is friendly with children if you want to board them at our house.

Elizabeth was a great pup sitter for Jazz and Sully, our 2 rescued Golden Retrievers. She kept us informed and sent photos, and during the meet and greet, we felt very comfortable leaving our "kids" and our home in her care. She left our house nice and clean, having done her dishes and vacuumed, and even changed and washed the bedding from the guest room where she slept. I recommend her highly and will definitely call her for future needs.

About: I offer in house boarding So your pet doesn’t have to sleep on a hard floor and be in a kennel. Your pet will be treated as though they are one of my own. If they sleep with you they sleep with me! They are my first priority! Come on out and do a meet and greet! Pet boarding is my biggest priority. Your pet will have all the attention, fun time and proper care they need during their visit no matter how long their visit is. I care for the pets I sit as though their own owner is caring for them. If they have food and water in front of them, 24/7 that will be something that they will have at my facility if they don’t and they have a different regiment that is something they will have in my facility if they have toys, beds, medication at their home that is what i will provide for them as well. If they are, or aren’t allowed on the furniture that is what i will do If they sleep in your bed with you at night they will sleep with me at night. If they go on multiple daily walks, that is what i will do. Your pet will be cared for just the way you care for them.

About: Hey there! My name is Dorottya. I've taken care of different kinds of pets since I was a kid and I always seem to be a pet magnet when I visit my friends, they just can't get enough of my cuddles. I've also been known to talk and sing to animals, it makes them happy and sooths them. I believe that creating a comfortable and caring environment while pet owners are away will help bridge the gap between the times they will be together again. No one wants a sad puppy or kitty while pet parents are away. My main options on here are for house sitting and dog walking. I have worked as a nurse for 10 years, so I have a medical background. I work full-time on my own business and typically leave a couple days open to my rover clients. I'm currently working on my own business, and I'm available to pet sit and dog walk a couple days a week from 9 am to overnight when needed. I respect the homes of my clients when pet sitting, or dog walking. I love to tailor the day to fit the individual pet's needs and their schedules for feedings, medications (if pet is taking them), potty, and activities (play time or walking).

About: Hi, I'm Marsalis! I work locally here in the area with a stable weekday schedule, and while my busy routine keeps me from having a dog of my own right now, I love nothing more than to help care for pets on the weekends! I have multiple years of experience helping friends, family, and neighbors look after their beloved dogs, and I treat every pup I watch like my own. I specialize in weekend house sitting, which means your dog will get 100% of my undivided attention and love right in the comfort of their own home. I enjoy staying active and going on long walks, so if your dog has plenty of energy and loves to explore, I make the perfect outdoor exercise partner! Since I value a clean and organized living space, you can rest assured that I will treat your home with the utmost respect. I always make it a point to leave things perfectly tidy, clean, and spotless for your return. I’m also a great communicator, so you can count on plenty of photo updates and quick responses throughout the weekend. I look forward to giving you total peace of mind and spoiling your dog during your next trip! 🐾 I work Mon - Fri, leaving my weekends free to focus on your dog's routines, exercise, and comfort. I love being active, so outdoor time is a plus! I prioritize safety, trust, and cleanliness while house sitting. I follow all your daily routines, keeping your dog secure on walks, and leaving your home completely spotless as if it was my own.

FAQs for House Sitting - Huntington

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 514 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Huntington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Huntington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Huntington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Huntington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Huntington. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
