“Natalie took great care of my kitties while I was gone, including giving medication to one. I got pictures after each of her visits, which was nice. Everything, and everyone, was in good shape when I got home. It's nice to know there's someone I can trust to take care of them when I'm gone.”

“Catherine was wonderful. She made me feel so at ease. She sent updates and photos at each visit. She was kind when I accidentally booked for the wrong time, and was flexible to return later even though it was clearly my error. Will definitely request to book with her again!”

“Jenna did a great job with my two cats. They are quite shy and go into hiding when anyone comes to the house. It took some time but by the end Ricky was greeting Jenna and getting some pets. Can't give a better endorsement than that! I had an accident while on vacation and needed help for about 5 weeks longer than planned which Jenna was able to do. That was extremely helpful. I would definitely use Jenna again an highly recommend her.”

“Estefani is the best! She was soooo sweet with my senior kitty. She is a great communicator and sent lovely updates each day. I felt so much better knowing she was looking after my cat. 10/10 would recommend!”

“Samantha is the best. She is so caring to our babies and detail-oriented. Our family is so happy to have found her and plan on utilizing her drop in services as much as she allows us to!”

About: I have lived with dogs all of my life and have been taking care of my sweet puppy for 3 years! I am happy to do drop-in visits and walks in your neighborhood. I will be home most of the day this summer and can pop in most weekday and weekend mornings, afternoons, and evenings. I am a music teacher, so my summers have plenty of availability weekdays and weekends. Happy to do repeat check-ins and regular walks in your neighborhood! As someone who has a HARD time leaving my pet when I’m traveling, I understand how much you need to know your pet is safe and happy. I can send photos and updates galore!
“Krista went above and beyond for our kitties during our trip! She made sure to check with us during every feeding and stayed with them for extra play time and cuddles. We highly recommend booking her!”

About: I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes, ages, and temperaments since I was around 10 years old. Friends, neighbors, and family have trusted me to walk, feed, bathe, and play with their pets. I’m patient, attentive, and comfortable following specific routines, administering basic care, and making sure pets feel safe, loved, and relaxed while their owners are away. I currently have a flexible schedule that allows me to give pets plenty of attention and care. I’m available for walks, drop-ins, and sitting during weekdays (especially afternoons and evenings) and weekends. I love spending quality time playing, exercising, and keeping pets company so they never feel lonely. I prioritize safety and comfort at all times. I carefully follow feeding, medication, and walking instructions, and I always keep pets supervised. I communicate regularly with updates and photos so owners feel confident and at ease while they’re away.
“Ross was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared a lot about my pet’s well-being. I appreciated the regular updates and the attention to detail—everything was handled exactly as requested. I felt completely at ease knowing my pet was in good hands.”

About: I’ve been around pets for most of my life. Starting when I would take care of my family fishes when I was younger. Then, later, with our family dog, a tiny Maltese named Lucy! As of late, I’ve spent my time watching over my friends’ two kitties, as well as helping them with their dog sits when they need an extra hand! I am currently a full-time student at JMU. I have plenty of availability during the summer, and when the school year begins, weekday nights, and weekends! By being friendly and gentle, I hope to create a safe and fun atmosphere for your pet(s)! I am communicative and reliable, and will always make sure to give you updates and photos, so you can see how your pets are doing when you are away!
About: Hi! Honestly, just here to fill a void for safe, affordable, reliable care in the community. I have a golden doodle that we're obsessed with and found that there's not a ton of options in the immediate area for reliable, safe care. Fenced in back yard! Currently a part time nurse that works 2-3 days a week. Availability will be made around my work schedule. Daily walks around the neighborhood to explore. I have a fenced in back yard with a friendly golden doodle. He's not crated but can offer crating animals visiting if a crate is provided!
About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life. I have been taking care of dogs of my own since I was able to walk and talk. I work hard and play harder with our furry friends! I am a fast learner, and can assist with training pups or taking care of senior dogs. My father is a veterinarian, so I was able to learn from him how to care for your pets. I attend James Madison University, so I will have classes with a varying schedule each weekday. I can stay full time at your home with your pets. I go to the gym, so I may be out for a short time to work out, but once I’m finished I’m right back at home with your pets! I have two dogs of my own. I feed/provide medication to them regularly (might go without saying) and I love to cuddle up with them on the floor and play with their toys with them. I’m very affectionate and will give your pets lots of attention and love.
“I am so happy that I selected Abbey from all the potential candidates from Rover.com. 5 Star Rating. Abbey was well-liked by my cats from the moment she came to our home. She even successfully administered oral medication by syringe to my one cat at their first meeting. Additionally, she appropriately texted me and sent a picture before departing on her six nightly visits. Her visits lasted an hour and my house was clean and neat when I returned and most importantly the cats, hampster, and fish were all happy and healthy. She discarded the used food cans and kitty litter and must have swept as there wasn't a kitty litter trail on the floor! Thanks, Abbey! Hope to see you again, using your pet sitting skills and services in the future!”

About: I’ve cared for animals most of my life, with decades of hands-on experience, starting with gerbils and my first Siamese cat when I was nine. I’ve also had parakeets for several years. Friends and family have often relied on me for drop-in visits. I’ve always liked the different qualities animals bring, cats with their emotional honesty and dogs with their energy and engagement. I also notice how they relate to the world in their own ways, dogs tend to look for connection and interaction, cats move more on their own terms, and horses are often more tuned in to their surroundings and quick to respond when something feels off. Keeping that in mind helps me adjust my approach so each one feels comfortable and understood. As a young adult, I worked a couple summers in a dog kennel, where my interest in obedience, canine behavior, and training really took off and grew from there. I also spent several summers at horse camp early on, where I gained hands-on experience with horse care, handling, and stable routines. I’ve always enjoyed riding horseback, and still do when I can. Those early experiences shaped how I approach animals today. I’m naturally more at ease with animals, calm, steady, and patient, and I’m attentive to how they communicate and what they need. The first dogs I had of my own were a street-mix, Ringo, then a Giant Schnauzer and later a Husky mix, Harley, and in more recent years, my best buddy, Achy, was a Jack Russell Terrier. Caring for him through different stages of life deepened my understanding of attentive, consistent care. With my Schnauzer, Bella, I trained and competed in obedience, which gave me a strong appreciation for structure, consistency, and clear communication. Some of my animals were adopted, while others I raised from puppyhood, which gave me experience with both early training and supporting animals as they settle into new environments. I appreciate that each animal has its own personality, comfort level, and needs, especially when their routine changes, and I do my best to keep things as familiar and steady as possible. My experience includes: • Daily care, feeding, walks, play, companionship • Supporting anxious, sensitive, or high-energy pets • Keeping routines consistent • Reinforcing basic training and boundaries • Basic first aid for dogs and cats (minor wounds, claw injuries, and general care) • Grooming and brushing, including tick checks and removal (and basic hoof care for horses) • Care for small animals, birds and fish, including cage cleaning and basic aquarium upkeep I take a calm, patient approach and don’t rush interaction. I allow trust to build naturally so pets feel secure and comfortable while you’re away. I’m comfortable caring for dogs, cats, and small animals such as rodents, birds, and ferrets. At this time, I don’t offer care for reptiles or arachnids. I also have experience with horses from years of riding, and while it’s been some time, I’m comfortable assisting with basic care. At home, I currently care for a senior rescue cat, Aggy, which keeps me mindful of the extra patience and attention older animals often need. I’m comfortable with routine care such as eye drops, tablets, and grooming or brushing. For injections, IVs, or more advanced medical care, I recommend working with a veterinary professional. While I’m new to Rover, caring for animals has been a consistent part of my life. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and wellbeing are always my priority. I am self-employed and currently work part-time, which gives me flexibility in my daily and weekly schedule. I’m able to plan pet care around the needs of the pet owner and provide reliable, attentive care. I provide care in the pet owner’s home to keep things familiar and comfortable for the pet. My visits typically include up to four shorter potty breaks throughout the day, along with a longer walk and evening care. Overnight stays follow a consistent routine to support a sense of safety and stability, as both dogs and cats tend to feel more at ease with familiar patterns. During each visit, I make sure pets are fed, have fresh water, get appropriate exercise, and receive calm, attentive companionship. I follow care instructions closely, keep an eye on behavior and overall wellbeing, and provide regular photo and video updates so you can feel at ease while you’re away. I’m respectful of your home and routines, and I’m happy to take care of small details, such as watering houseplants, if requested.
“Sarah was great! I have very specific daily care requests for our two cats, Sarah followed my instructions and they were happy kitties when we arrived home from our trip. Thanks Sarah!”

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
