Walt kept our boy, Teddi, for four days. Teddi is a 3 yo intact English Shepherd who has never spent a night away from us. Teddi is a very well behaved and friendly boy but we were a bit anxious how this would go. Walt kept us well informed on how Teddi was doing. Walt gave Teddi great care and a lot of attention. When we returned to pick up Teddi, it was obvious that he and Teddy had bonded very well. We are very pleased with the care that Walt provided and will certainly use him again.

About: I’ve taken care of 3 rescue dogs and a rescue cat. I love learning new dogs and cats and to see what kind of personality each one has. I’ve cared for animals for 7 years. I’m always on time and very dependable. I am currently a stay at home wife so I have plenty of time to play and interact with your pups. Whatever you need I’m available to assist you. I have a fenced in large kennel area where pups can run and play. For those that are trained to run and play and come back to my commands these dogs will have 6 acres to run and play. There’s plenty of space for your pups to run and play. I am available to take care of your pets as a house sitter or to do drop in visits multiple times a day. Whatever your needs may be I assure you I’ll be able to accommodate you.

Madison was wonderful! Her communication skills are great. She was so enthusiastic when I brought Rambler over for his stay that it made me feel extremely comfortable. She sends pictures and provides updates which is a pet owner and lovers dream. I would definitely recommend Madison to anyone looking to get the best care for their dog while away! Thanks Madison!

About: As a first responder, I’m very comfortable around K9s and understand the importance of patience, consistency, awareness, and responsible handling around animals. I also have two dogs of my own, Millie, a Vizsla, and Aksel, a German Shepherd. I’ve had Millie her entire life, and Aksel came to us as a rescue about a year ago. When we first brought Aksel home, he needed extra patience, structure, and training, and we’ve worked with him consistently to help him become the happy, well-tempered dog he is today. I genuinely love dogs and enjoy spending time with them, working with them, and helping them learn. I work as a first responder, so my schedule is different from a traditional Monday–Friday schedule. I have set days off that allow me to offer pet care, and I primarily schedule boarding on my days off so I can give your pet plenty of attention and supervision. I also offer dog walking and drop-in visits when my schedule allows. I keep my availability updated and am happy to communicate ahead of time to make sure your pet’s needs fit my schedule. I have a fully fenced yard where dogs can safely get outside for exercise and play. I have two dogs of my own, a Vizsla and a German Shepherd, who are part of my household. Before boarding, I’m happy to discuss your dog’s temperament, comfort level, and how they do around other dogs. I can use indoor movable pet gates/kennels to safely separate dogs when needed, whether for feeding, rest, or simply giving them their own space. I always prioritize safety and will follow your pet’s normal routine, feeding instructions, and any special care needs.

First off I want to say how grateful my husband & I are to have found Heather & her family!! We have always vacationed with our dogs with us. I was super nervous about boarding, not knowing how they would be treated, if they were cared for properly, & if they would get their belly rubs hourly. After the first day meeting Heather & her family, I knew they would be the "other family" to my pups!! Heather sent updates daily, along with pictures & texts of how things were going. Just these thoughtful gestures that she didnt have to do, eased my anxiety & mind tremendously. I dont have enough space on here, to put down the things she did for my pups. Heather you are awesome!!!! 5 stars for the care of my babies, all the way!!! We ARE definitely going to use her again, probably many, many times!!!

This was my fur baby’s first time away from our family. I couldn’t be more confident in leaving him with Erica. I got great vibes from the family and felt that his surroundings were safe. Great communication and pix. I have no doubt that my baby was given plenty of love in my absence. I would definitely recommend Erica and will be a return customer.

Taylor has completely made my vacation! I was in keywest for a few days of a MUCH needed relaxation. I currently own a pet care business in Philadelphia, so having my dog Alfie with me on vacation was a priority for me. Taylor was transparent with me about Alfie’s time with her and even gave me access to her home so that I could come and take him on adventures when she wasn’t there! I am so impressed and satisfied with my experience. Thank you!

I would definitely recommend Claire for petsitting. She friendly and accommodating, and our dog seemed very well cared for. Our only problem was finding the house because the address sent to us through Rover was not correct, but hopefully that has been fixed.

Every sitter has their own rhythm and routine, but most will follow the flow that keeps your dog happiest. Sitters can give meals on your dog's regular schedule, provide a comfortable place for sleep, and plenty of one-on-one attention.

Sitters may also include daily walks in the neighborhood during your dog's boarding stay. You can also request photo and message updates throughout so you can see which local landmarks or neighborhoods your dog is enjoying.

If your dog is a little shy, consider booking a one-night trial stay! This practice run can boost your and your dog’s confidence before your trip.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Hillsville home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Hillsville.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

You and your Hillsville sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
