“10/10!!! We were so nervous because we haven’t been away for a weekend without our dog and thought she would be depressed without us. But so glad we found this app and Veronica is the best! Kept us updated with our dog and sent videos! Would definitely recommend her!”

“Booked Alex when we were in a bind for a sitter last minute. She was great and took amazing care of our senior pup, Topher. The updates and pictures throughout the stay helped keep our minds at ease (Topher can be a handful sometimes). Would definitely book again and recommend her for your pet's boarding needs! :)”

“Cassidy was amazing! I received pictures of Cloud every day and updates. They even allowed him on furniture, which was important for my cuddle bug. Their other dogs and Cloud had a really fun time, and even met their cat. Surprisingly Cloud was reportedly great with the cat. Now that I have him home he is just chilling right next to me fighting a nap because he had so much fun”

About: I have been a dog mom most of my life. More recently I’ve worked with a rescue and have experience fostering dogs . All 3 of my dogs are rescues and they are all very different so I’ve learned that they all their own individualized plan I currently work full time so I am available most weekends for boarding. Sometimes I’m off over the summer so my availability opens up then I have a really big fenced yard and a cozy pet friendly home. I have 3 small dogs who I love very much. My heeler mix is a bit fear aggressive towards new people and large dogs but he is obedient and I am working on socializing him more and I know exactly to manage. I’ve fostered a variety of dogs the last year and he just needs time to warm up to new dogs and people. My other 2 are terrier mixes and have been socialized since they were pups.

“Sarah has watched our dogs twice overnight now. Sarah is dependable (which is something we’ve struggled with with other sitters on Rover). I forgot to message ahead and remind her we were coming yesterday but she remembered. Our dogs were happy to come back, which the best part. She listens to what you ask for with caring for your fur babies. We will continue to book with her.”

About: I’ve had furbabies of every size and breeds since I was a child. Horses, dogs, cats and other large mammals. Never met an animal that doesn’t love me. The feelings are mutual. I am retired, and love fur babies to keep me company and help me stay active. I do require animals be vaccinated and spade/neutered. Not taking cats due to allergies. I have a fenced yard, room to roam, a small furbaby of my own. Furbabies can be crated or sleep where they choose. Always indoor at night.

About: I’ve been a dog lover since I was young, so taking care of dogs comes naturally to me. For the past 6 years, I’ve had 2 amazing & loving dogs — 1 poodle & 1 lhasa apso. I know how important it is for someone to take care of your babies while you’re away especially when you have other important matters to attend to (I totally understand this)! I promise to give the same love & care to your babies as much as I give mine. From walks, to playtime, to cuddles — your pet is safe and at home with me 🥰🐶 My husband & I are almost always at home & will be able to take care of your fur baby. I’ll make sure to give your babies frequent potty breaks & all the necessary playtime, cuddles, and attention they need to feel comfortable & loved 🥰 I know how important safety & trust are when it comes to caring for your babies. I assure you that I will provide them with plenty of attention & care. I will make sure they get frequent potty breaks, are well-fed, and feel safe around me & my furbaby. We’ll treat your baby like family 🥰

About: I've taken care of dogs for family, friends, and neighbors for 4 years now. I have some experience grooming others' dogs, however mostly my own. They still loved the way their buddy came out and continue to come to me! I enjoy doing this job so I decided to make it more public. Hope I can help many other people and their babies even more! I'm currently working part-time, so my schedule is open and flexible. I don't like to leave pets alone for too long, so for no more than 4 hours. Whether it's just to give them a potty break or to give them the attention they deserve. I have a fenced yard and live in a community with a dog park. How I take care of your babies is up to you. I understand every dog is different and so if their owner! So just let me know what you do for them and I will integrate it into their daily schedule. During the summer, the dogs will be kept inside an air conditioned home. Preferably when no one is home then they will be in a crate, however if they are guaranteed not to chew on personal items or pee inside, then they can roam inside freely. During winter, dogs can be kept outside, but it really depends on the owner's preferences.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.

Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.

During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Hillmaid home-away-from-home, packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Hillmaid.

<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

You and your Hillmaid sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
