“Shanna is great. She has been patient and collaborative in planning for my Roxie's care. We had a meet and greet, then a short daycare stay, then a full day of daycare. She is well versed in dog behavior. My dog, coincidentally a "pitbull type" is often categorized and judged as "vicious or aggressive" even before people meet her. I've had dog sitters on Rover decline to provide services simply because of her breed or her appearance. Shanna understands that Roxie is a dog: a dog with her own level of prey drive (so Roxie is not allowed in her daughter's room cause of the hamster she has); a dog with some anxiety who barked at her husband when he came into the house. They didn't freak out. Shanna understood Roxie's behavior and worked through it, allowing Roxie to get to know her husband, settle and move on. I truly appreciate her family's openness and acceptance. We have two more full days of daycare booked and if all continues well, we will book boarding services. Roxie is people and dog friendly, but the discrimination we have experienced on Rover, leads me to take things in a new daycare/boarding situation slowly. Shanna has been very reassuring and understanding. throughout the process. I HIGHLY recommend her.”

I have plenty of toys as well if your pup likes to independently play. lots of cuddles and mental stimulation such as lick treats, treat mats, and toys such as kongs, snuffle mat and chew toys

About: I am a Fear Free certified veterinary technician of 13 years who grew up in the show dog world (AKC) before getting into rescue as an adult. Throughout my long-lived animal career I have participated in puppy/kitten/basic obedience training, behavioral rehabilitation, dog sport training, senior care, care for animals with extreme medical needs, and owned/operated a group play doggie daycare. My jobs, hobbies, and passions are all centered around animals and I can't wait to bring that passion to you! I am home full-time, and available for puppies and animals with heavy needs. I have a fairly set schedule for all of the pets in my care, and that level of routine provides comfort to even the most nervous of pups. I am the only Fear Free pet carer in Bakersfield! I provide comforting classical music as well as calming pheromones in the sleeping spaces to make their stay as stress-free as possible. I have a fenced yard and never leave dogs together unsupervised. I do not provide an environment suitable for animals with a history of dog aggression. Small dogs I can be more flexible with, as their attitude usually comes from a place of fear and that is something I can work with for the little guys.

About: Hi! I’m new to Rover, but I’ve been caring for my best friend’s large dogs for years while she’s away on business trips sometimes for up to two weeks at a time. I absolutely love being around dogs and enjoy every part of their care, from feeding and walking to cozy snuggles on the couch. After years of caring for dogs, I decided to join Rover as a side passion. I live in a dog-friendly apartment complex with two on-site dog parks, which are perfect for playtime and exercise. I take dogs out for walks 3 to 4 times a day and always make sure to clean up after them — we have convenient poop bag stations throughout the community. Your dog will be in a safe, attentive, and family-friendly environment while you’re away. Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I create a calm, supervised environment where dogs can feel at home. Because I’m home throughout the day, I’m able to keep a close eye on your pup and give them plenty of attention, bathroom breaks, and playtime. My apartment is pet-friendly with secure areas for walking and play. We have two on-site dog parks and designated pet waste stations, which makes daily outings clean and convenient. Inside, dogs are welcome on the couch and are never confined unless requested by the owner. I’m experienced with large breeds and understand how to manage dogs with different energy levels and personalities. I also keep communication open with pet parents, sending updates and photos to give you peace of mind while you’re away. You can trust that your dog will be treated like family in a safe, clean, and loving environment.

About: I’ve had pets of all kinds ever since I was a kid. I grew up around livestock and showed pigs through 4-H. I’ve never had a dog-less household, and I strongly believe every dog is a lap dog. I would love to get to know and spoil each and every one of your pups, while keeping you updated every step of the process. Although I only have one review on my profile, I have been taking care of friends’ and family’s pets for years. I guarantee a 5 star experience for you and your pets. I have a fenced in yard, with two of my own indoor/outdoor dogs. There are also 2 indoor/outdoor cats, so no dogs that could put them in danger.

About: I have 8 years of experience walking dogs, and sitting them as well. I am an athlete so I like enjoy taking dogs on walks and get some exercise in. Currently enrolled at Cal State University of Bakersfield looking to get my bachelor’s in Business Administration I am a full time student so walking dogs fit right in because most walks are no longer then an hour and are a great time.
