About: I've taken care of dogs since childhood when we fostered an elderly black labrador, then had a beagle/golden lab mix for his nearly 15 years. I've also cared for maltese poodles, goldendoodles, huskies, cattle dog mixes and unknown rescues. I can handle adding medication or supplements to food/treats, but not so sure about administering IV meds. My work schedule gives me 6 days off every other weekend, after working Tues-Tues. My girlfriend has a similar work schedule and helps out with the pet care. Schedule obviously prohibits us from having our own dog, but we love having a walking buddy on those weekends that we decide to stay home. Morning and evening meals are typical, but we can talk about other feeding schedules if required. 2-3 walks per day at least, with 3 miles being a normal distance for the long walk of the day. We rent a 2 Bd house and don't have any fence in our yard. Hard floors and area rugs are indoors with a fair amount of potted houseplants. We are typically indoors with the dog unless outside for walks and potty breaks on-leash around the neighborhood. We also have miles of paved greenway trails to walk. There are other dogs we sometimes encounter on walks, but they can usually be avoided if anyone is acting aggressive. It's uncommon to have reason to leave the dog unsupervised in the house, but if so, it would be no more than 1-2 hrs, we'd take out the trash first, and go for a walk before and after. Dogs are sometimes allowed onto the couch or the bed, if they aren't in our way, and so long as that's normally OK at home too. We are a 90-minute drive from any sort of veterinary care, so keep that in mind if they might need quick access to medical care.
