“Theresa was so kind and loving to our dog! We appreciated the pictures she sent us and daily updates. So happy to have found a reliable and trustworthy sitter for our dog!”

“I am very pleased with Tanya's care and attention. She provides a CLEAN place and a space where your pet would be comfortable. She's communicative and her price point is very justifiable as she provides top care. She's by far the best! Would highly recommend.”

“They were very kind . They sent pictures to my phone (while I was gone) showing her walking, eating, or napping. I felt comfortable leaving my dog baby with them.”

“Madison did such a great job with Cooper! His excitement, new environment jitters and eating too fast caused him to vomit the first couple of days. Madison handled it like a pro, she seeked guidance from the vet who confirmed what seemed to be happening. She adjusted his food intake to help him keep food down and made some other changes which fixed the problem! Goose, their dog, was a wonderful big brother to Cooper and they all gave him love like he was their own. Cooper was taken on lovely walks on trails and to the dog park and Goose also shared his antlers with Coop which is now his favorite thing to chew! We were very happy with the care given to our crazy little kid and Madison went over and beyond!”

About: ### About Me 🐾 I have been a dog lover my entire life and have always had dogs as part of my family. To me, pets aren't just animals—they're family, and I understand how important it is to know your baby is safe, loved, and well cared for while you're away. I will treat your dog with the same love, patience, and attention that I give my own. Whether your pup loves walks, playtime, snuggles, or simply having someone nearby, I want them to feel comfortable, happy, and at home while they are in my care. I also know how hard it can be to leave your pet with someone new, so I want you to feel comfortable too! I am happy to provide updates, pictures, and plenty of reassurance while you're away. Your dog will be loved and cared for like one of my own. ❤️🐶 Pet care fits very naturally into my everyday routine. I have always had dogs of my own, so feeding, walks, playtime, potty breaks, and lots of love and attention are already a normal part of my day. I enjoy spending time with animals and am happy to adjust my routine to meet each pet’s individual needs. Whether your dog needs extra walks, playtime, snuggles, or just someone to keep them company, I will make sure they get plenty of attention and feel comfortable and loved while you are away. I care for every pet as if they were my own. I know how important routines are for dogs, so I will follow your instructions closely, including feeding schedules, potty breaks, walks, medications, playtime, and bedtime routines. I want your pet to feel as comfortable and secure as possible while you are away. Whether I am caring for your pet in my home or yours, they will receive plenty of attention, affection, playtime, and snuggles. I am also happy to send pictures and updates so you can relax knowing your baby is safe, happy, and loved!

“Samantha is such a kind-hearted, knowledgeable, and accommodating dog sitter! She sent me so many wonderful pictures while my pup stayed with her and it was obvious that he got spoiled with attention. She is the best, I cannot say it enough!”
“I can't believe how Angelina got my shy-with-everyone-but-me dog to cuddle up to her! She really is a dog whisperer! My two babies had a fantastic time with her and seemed to especially like the backyard for running and playing. I definitely recommend her!”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for over 11 years, beginning with my own Yorkie Terrier, Lola. I got Lola when I was in 9th grade, and she was one of my first big responsibilities growing up. I’ve had her ever since, and caring for her throughout her entire life has taught me a lot about patience, consistency, and paying attention to a dog’s individual needs. Over the years, I’ve handled all aspects of Lola’s care, including daily walks, feeding, bathing, grooming, and administering medication. I’ve also cared for larger dogs, including a Weimaraner and a Golden Retriever, staying with both for five days. I currently work from home 90% of the time in marketing and communications for a nonprofit, so I have a flexible schedule and am able to give pets plenty of attention throughout the day. I also live an active lifestyle and love going on walks, getting outside, and spending time with dogs. What I love most about dogs is how energetic and affectionate they are. I’m patient, attentive, and want every pet I care for to feel comfortable, safe, and loved while their owner is away. I also enjoy cats and have spent time around them during college. While I’m newer to caring for cats independently, I’m very comfortable following an owner’s instructions and learning each pet’s individual routine. Pet care is already a natural part of my daily routine. Monday through Friday, I wake up around 5 a.m. and go to the gym before starting work. I’m back home around 7 a.m., which is when my dog usually wakes up. She’s a small senior dog who loves to sleep in and stay warm! I take her outside as soon as I get home, then prepare her breakfast. I work from home from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., which gives me plenty of flexibility throughout the day. I give my dog a smalll lunch around noon, depending on when I take my own lunch break, and take her outside afterward. She has dinner around 5:30 p.m., followed by another potty break. On weekends (during warmer weather, 40 degrees and up), I typically wake up around 7 a.m., feed my dog and take her outside, then head to the gym. When I get back, we go on a 20-minute neighborhood walk together. She gets another meal and potty break around 12:30 p.m., and I usually run errands afterward. Dinner is around 5:30 p.m., followed by another potty break. At the end of the day, after dinner, I also make time for her dental cleaning as part of her regular routine. Because I work from home and have a flexible schedule, I’m able to give pets plenty of attention, breaks, walks, and companionship throughout the day. My priority is to make sure every pet feels comfortable, safe, and cared for while their owner is away. I’ll always follow the instructions and routines provided by the owner, including feeding schedules, walks, medication, potty breaks, and any other specific needs. I also think communication is important, so I’m happy to provide updates while you’re away and let you know how your pet is doing. Depending on the pet and the service, I enjoy spending time playing, going on walks, giving plenty of attention and cuddles, and simply keeping them company.

“Jennifer is awesome. My baby is always happy to go over and I’m always happy leaving her there. I can always go and not worry about my baby staying there because I know she’s very well taken care of and Jennifer and her family are very loving and animal lovers. Definitely would recommend Jennifer for sitting your fur baby.”

“I am so happy with the care my dogs received while staying with Ella. They slept all the way home!! She kept me informed on how they were doing & sent pictures. She has such a beautiful yard for dogs, I was worried mine wouldn't want to leave. She was also so accommodating & flexible with schedule changes and needing to give medication last minute too. Definitely A++”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their German Valley home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your German Valley.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your German Valley sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
