“Andrea was so great with our two labs. Andrea was our first experience with Rover abs it was so pleasant. She was very polite and respectful and we could really tell she would take the best care of our dogs. Andrea loves animals so much, and it shows! She is definitely working for Rover all the right reasons. When we arrived home our house was in great shape and our dogs were taken care of! We will definitely be using Andrea for our future trips!”

“Mabel had the best time with Leigh! She got plenty of walks, snuggles, and attention, and we came home to one very content pup. Leigh’s thoughtful care and regular updates gave us such peace of mind, and she made sure Mabel got every bit of love and attention that a spoiled coonhound expects! 😊 Honestly, Leigh spoiled her with as much love as she gets at home and then some! We’re pretty sure Mabel is already plotting her next sleepover. We’ll definitely be booking again! Thank you so much, Leigh!”

“Tracey did a great job with our two fur babies. She was on time for arrival time and very communicative throughout the stay with updates. If she left she’d let me know but would also be sure to take care of the dogs right before she left and was never gone for too long or excessive. We have an elder dog and a younger dog full of energy. She connected well with both of them. She played fetch with them and did a great job sticking to their schedule even if it meant getting up at 4am when our older dog needed to potty. She paid attention to all the little details we talked about with their care instructions during the meet and greet. She was flexible with the stay as our travels home ended up taking us less time to travel back home. The house was the way we left it when we got home. The dog seemed comfortable and happy and not stressed from us being away. She is a true gem and we plan to book her for multiple other planned trips in our future.”

About: I was raised with Boston Terriers. I can’t remember a time when one or more than one was not a part of my life. I love all fur babies though, size does not matter. I retired from the Federal Government after 30 years last September. I’m available and ready to help you provide care for your fur babie! I am able and willing to deliver whatever type of care you need to provide peace of mind for you, your family, and your fur babies.
About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover with years of hands-on experience caring for pets. I’ve been taking care of my family’s and neighbors’ pets since I was 15, including feeding, walking, playing, and making sure they feel safe and loved while their owners are away. I currently own a cat, so I understand the importance of patience, routine, and respecting each pet’s individual personality. Whether your pet is energetic and playful or shy and relaxed, I take the time to meet their needs and make them comfortable. I treat every pet like they’re my own and prioritize safety, communication, and reliability. I’d love the chance to help care for your furry family member! I’m available for evening care on weekdays and have open availability on weekends. I’m able to check in on pets multiple times throughout the day, depending on their needs. I’m flexible, reliable, and happy to work with your pet’s routine to make sure they’re well cared for. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I believe owners know their pets best, so I carefully follow all instructions regarding feeding, walking, medications, routines, and house rules. I take the time to learn each pet’s personality, boundaries, and needs to make sure they feel secure and cared for.
About: Hi! I’m Landree, and caring for animals has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I started training horses at 10 years old, began working with exotic animals at 16, attended my first professional dog training course in 2021, and completed another in 2022. My goal is to create a place where every dog feels like they’re on vacation while you’re away. I live in St. James, Missouri, on 7 beautiful acres with a secure fenced yard for safe play and plenty of open fields for supervised walks and exercise. Our property also has a large pond. While it isn’t fenced, dogs are never allowed near it without direct supervision, and if you’d rather your pup avoid the pond completely, I’m happy to accommodate that. I work from home, so your dog will receive lots of attention, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. Pets are welcome to relax and roam freely in the house while I’m home. If I ever need to step out for errands, they’ll stay safely in a dog-proof room or a crate, depending on what they’re most comfortable with and what you prefer. I also have both stairs and a ramp leading into the house to help accommodate senior dogs and those with mobility needs. For added convenience, I offer transportation to and from your home for boarding clients. I’m currently working toward opening my dream pet resort, where dogs can enjoy a fun, enriching, and safe stay every time they visit. Until then, I’m excited to welcome your furry family member into my home and care for them as if they were my own. Caring for dogs is my full-time job, not a side hobby, so your pet’s care is my top priority throughout the day. My daily routine is built around providing frequent potty breaks, supervised outdoor play, enrichment activities, and plenty of one-on-one attention. During the summer, we enjoy the cooler parts of the day outside and spend the hottest hours relaxing indoors in the air conditioning before heading back out for more fun in the evening. My schedule is flexible, allowing me to follow your dog’s normal feeding times, medication schedule, exercise needs, and preferred routine. Whether your pup is full of energy and loves to play or prefers a quieter day filled with naps and cuddles, I’ll tailor their stay to help them feel safe, comfortable, and at home. Because pet care is my full-time profession, your dog won’t simply be checked on throughout the day—they’ll receive consistent supervision, personalized care, and the love and attention they deserve. When your pet stays with me, they become part of the family. I take the time to learn each dog’s routine, personality, and individual needs so I can provide care that’s as close to home as possible. Whether your dog is playful and energetic, shy and reserved, or a senior who prefers a slower pace, I’ll adjust their day to keep them happy and comfortable. Dogs receive frequent potty breaks, supervised outdoor play, enrichment activities, plenty of fresh water, and lots of love and attention throughout the day. They are welcome to relax inside the house with me, and during the hottest parts of the day we cool off indoors in the air conditioning. If I ever need to leave for a short time, dogs are safely housed in a dog-proof room or a crate based on your preference and what your dog is most comfortable with. I carefully follow each owner’s instructions regarding feeding schedules, medications, exercise, and any special needs. Safety is always my highest priority, and every outdoor activity is supervised to ensure your dog has a fun, safe, and stress-free stay.

Point of story: I will treat your fur baby like it's my own! I work from home as a freelance writer! I have a big apartment that currently has one small dog in it. I love dogs and that's pretty much it I live in a nice, sub-urby area, and I take my dog Laz on walks through the neighborhood and to the park. I would be happy for your dog to join on those walks! About: HIGHLIGHTS: -Insured -Comfortable w/ large and small dogs and knows the different requirements in care -No kids in home -Dog kennels provided for when necessary, no need to lug yours with you -38 year old home owner w/ privacy fence in back yard -Work from home sitter -Regular updates and pictures -Has read dog psychology and taken dog training classes with my dog. I believe pets deserve respect and autonomy and I'll do my best to treat your babies like I treat my own boys. I've read a few dog psychology books so I do have a good understanding of different communication styles that dogs may have and I have experience with reactive dogs and elderly dogs as well. When I walk your dog, I have no problems communicating with strangers and setting boundaries. I am very protective of my animal clients peace and safety. I always err on the side of caution. With pets, I am gentle but firm and it creates an environment that dogs love. I love playing with dogs and engaging their minds. I also communicate with your pet to ensure they are happy (which room they prefer, how they like to be pet, how they like to be played with) and I tell them every day that you're coming back. I genuinely love each animal that I interact with and treat them how I'd want them to be treated if they were mine. I'm also punctual and communicative. My late dog was also reactive and could be aggressive, so I have experience dealing with large dogs that have strong boundaries. I work from home so I am available to stay with your pet all day long! When I do leave, it's usually never for more than 4 hours and I have a L crate and an XL crate that your babies can stay in if needed. For sitting in your home, I do bring my 6lb chihuahua. If your dog needs to be separated from small I have a large backyard with a privacy fence on all four sides. I have a 20 y/o but there is a pet gate that keeps the house in two parts. Your pet will not interact with my pet at all. Dogs have their own room and will be allowed free roam of one half of my home. It's a large space.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 46 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Gerald. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gerald walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gerald maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gerald choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
