“Mindy was great! Very professional and easy to reach, especially considering I had to book a little last minute. Great communication; sent me multiple updates while I was gone. I could tell my pup was well cared for when I got home.”

“Jeanne was OUTSTANDING with our boy! We had a meeting and greet prior to the sitting to discuss itinerary for the stay. Jeanne did everything she said and went above and beyond on communication with texts and pictures. Knowing Jon was in good hands took a ton of stress out of our trip. Jeanne is the best, and will definitely call her again the next time we have to go out of town!”

“My dogs have given Lauren 🐾🐾 🐾🐾🐾 (5 paws). They were comfortable with her very quickly and enjoyed having her take care of them. They are happy and not at all stressed when I came home from my trip. Thank you for also taking care of the little items around the house too!!”

“We booked Cheynne to house sit for us while we were on a short trip. This was our first time using Rover & we could not be happier. Cheynne took excellent care of our fur babies & our house was left clean & the same as we left it. She was very repsosive with texts & we would highly recommend Cheyenne for her services to anyone. We will most definitely use her services again in the future!”
About: I have had animals my entire life and have been around all kinds of different breeds, care levels, and energy levels. It doesn't bother me if your dog barks, sheds, or gives lots of kisses. I know the basics on training in regards to positive reinforcement and when to use it, as well as walking on a leash. Multiple dogs don't make a difference to me, I can divide my attention equally. I am not an expert on training, I know the basics. I also appreciate all notes, rules, and guidelines set forth by the furparent on how they care for their pet! It is very important to me to provide you a piece of mind. I work Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and am available around that. I Can check on your animals before I go to work or after work, whichever works best for you. I’m openly available on the weekends. I can not care for pets in my home unless they’re a small rodent or a bird, as my dogs have become dog reactive due to poor experiences in the past.
“Abigail was an awesome pet sitter while watching our pups. She kept up us updated and sent photo's. She explained everything that went on and you can tell the Dogs just adored her. I would use her again for any pet needs.”

“Natalie took such good care of our dogs and our home. The dogs absolutely love her and she was such a great guest in our home. Will definitely ask Natalie to watch for us again!”

“Alisha was So amazing! We got constant updates and pictures of our boys! She was soo attentive and they were so happy all week! She took them to the dog park all the time, played with them, and gave them lots of cuddles! I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants their dogs to be super loved!”

“Kasi is reliable and communicates well. Kasi clearly loves animals as our dogs were happy and relaxed when we returned home. We appreciated the photos of our dogs she sent each day she was with them. Would highly recommend Kasi to anyone who needs a pet sitter!”

“Dawson was amazing! We were in a pinch with only 4 days to find a weekend in-home sitter after someone else cancelled last minute. Dawson met with us and put all our fears at ease. He was so sweet, accommodating, and communicative. Our young, active-breed, high energy boys got lots of attention and Dawson took them on so many walks. Highly recommend!”

About: Taking care and loving animals has been a lifelong passion of mine. I’ve taken care of numerous fur babies, especially when it comes to pet sitting! From puppies to senior cats, i’ve seen it all. I have volunteered at the animal shelter for the past 2 years which has shaped me into an amazing pet sitter! Pet care fits naturally into my routine, and I make time each day to provide dependable care and attention. I’m available for drop-in visits, feeding, litter box cleaning, playtime, and companionship. I do my best to accommodate different schedules and will communicate clearly about my availability. Your pet’s comfort and routine are important to me, and I’ll make sure they receive the care and attention they deserve while you’re away. I understand that trusting someone with your pet and home is a big decision. I treat every home with respect and follow all care instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, medications, and household routines. I prioritize your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being, and I’m happy to provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. My goal is to make your pet feel safe, loved, and stress-free in their familiar environment.

About: I’ve had animals as part of my life for as long as I can remember, and caring for them has always been something I genuinely enjoy. I currently share my home with an Australian Cattle Dog and two rescue cats, including a senior cat with special medical needs. Supporting her through her golden years has deepened my appreciation for the patience, compassion, and individualized care that every pet deserves. Over the years, I’ve cared for a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, and hamsters. Whether your pet is energetic and playful, shy and cautious, young and active, or a senior who needs a little extra attention, I’m committed to providing care that helps them feel safe, comfortable, and loved. One of the advantages I offer is flexibility. I work remotely and can often bring my laptop with me, allowing me to spend more time with your pets during the day than many sitters can. I’m available for drop-in visits, pet sitting, companionship visits, and extended care while you’re away. I understand how important peace of mind is when you’re trusting someone with your beloved pet. I’m happy to provide regular updates through text messages, photos, videos, or phone calls—whatever helps you feel connected and reassured while you’re away. My goal is simple: to care for your pets as thoughtfully and lovingly as I care for my own. During Summer: I’m very flexible. Monday through Thursday - available all day Friday - 4:00pm to late night Saturday - available all day Sunday - available from noon to late night Every pet is unique, and I believe the best care starts with understanding their individual needs, routines, and personality. Before caring for your pet, I take time to learn about their feeding schedule, exercise needs, medications, favorite activities, and any special instructions you would like me to follow. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I strive to maintain their normal routine as closely as possible to help reduce stress and keep them comfortable. I make sure pets have fresh water, receive meals as instructed, get appropriate exercise and attention, and have a clean environment. I am also happy to provide regular updates, photos, and videos so you can feel confident your pet is doing well while you’re away. When caring for pets in my home, safety is my top priority. I carefully monitor interactions, provide a calm and comfortable environment, and ensure pets have access to fresh water, appropriate exercise, and plenty of affection. I always follow owner instructions regarding feeding, medications, and routines. I am comfortable caring for senior pets, pets with special needs, and administering medications as directed. I pay close attention to changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, and overall well-being so that any concerns can be addressed promptly. My goal is to provide dependable, compassionate care and treat every pet as if they were my own.
About: I have been around dogs and cats almost my whole life! I love taking care of pets, and I believe they are our most cherished family members. I always strive to treat them with the care and compassion of my own fur babies. I have years of experience taking care of and administering medication for elderly dogs, as well as making sure they are safe with any accommodations needed. I have also taken care of puppies and other dogs of all ages ensuring they have fun, and feel comfortable, in their own homes. I am used to taking care of 4+ dogs and cats at a time so no pet job is too big or too small for me! I look forward to working with you and taking the best care of your fur babies!:) I currently work overnight shifts at a hospital 3 days per week. My schedule is always pretty flexible for pet sitting and I am more than happy to accommodate any special needs or last minute arrangements for your pets! At this time I am not able to have pets at my house, but I am more than happy to stay and watch them at your place or even do check ins throughout the day/night. I have most experience with staying at the clients homes, but I am open to helping in any way that makes it a smooth process for your pets to get cared for! I am very clean and organized, quiet and kind, and will take great care of your home while you are away!
“Chia was so wonderful with my baby boy! She even came over for a meet and greet before she stayed with him to make sure he was comfortable. She sent picture updates and texted daily. I’ll definitely have her watch Nelson again.”

About: I have grown up around dogs my whole life, I would love to spend time with yours! I treat every dog I see like they’re my little baby even if I just ask their owner to love on them! I’d love an opportunity to help you and be trusted with your fur baby :) I am currently working very part time, I have too much time on my hands so I would love to keep your baby company! Or them keep me company…😂. I have 3 dogs of my own and a big fenced in yard, I live right by a school with a track and lots of grass! My dogs in my home are the babies, we treat them how we would a child and nothing less! I have a big fenced in yard with even more grass just across the street for your dog to release some energy in!
About: I’ve cared for cats and dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities — from energetic puppies to senior pets who need a little extra patience. Having lived in both an apartment and now a home, I understand how environment impacts a pet’s routine and comfort. I take the time to learn each pet’s unique personality and adapt my care to fit their needs, energy level, and temperament. No one-size-fits-all care here — just thoughtful, personalized attention so your pet feels safe, understood, and right at home. Currently have a very flexible schedule. I make plans around my booked clients. When working with a clients pets, I will be able to be around as much as needed. I get to know the pets routines and try to adapt so there is little to no difference when I am watching them. I have a fenced in back yard to allow animals to run around and play.
About: I’ve always had dogs in my life. They’re my soul animal for sure! I have a fur baby named Bear he’s 10 and the best dog in the whole world! I’ve trained many of my family’s pets and currently working with my brothers 8 month old puppy now. I will always have patience with dogs and training. I will always have a passion and love for training and dogs forever and having this as an option is a dream. I never heard of Rover before so this is a god send! 😇 Im currently an auntie to 3 fur babies at home and would like to expand my love and time for other pet parents that need the help with their pets as well. I don’t have a schedule at the moment so Monday-Friday from 8am-8pm I can swing in or be a dog sitter. Fri and Saturday I can do overnight if needed. I wouldn’t be able to care for pets in my own home, my house has 4 dogs with fenced in yard but just don’t have the room for it or I would have that already started for sure, one day when I get property!
About: I have walked neighbors dog for a couple of years now. I got my first dog sitting job when I was 13. I also was a nanny for 4 years for a family with a dog who I took care of daily. I have 2 cats, and a puppy that I adore! I am currently a student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and it is my summer break. I am at an internship during the week, but my weekends are all free! I am very attentive to each animals needs. I am always punctual when it comes to walking, feeding, and playing to ensure the animal is the happiest they can be. I am responsible for my cats at home by feeding and cleaning litter daily. I take my dog on walks and play with her. When I was a nanny I always made sure the walk the dog as long as he needed and find ways to show him extra love and attention when I could (:
“Erika took great care of Agi and my house while I was away. The place looked untouched when I returned. Her collar tracks her distances and she had 38 miles recorded for the week. I loved getting pictures and updates every day of her and seeing her play with other dogs too.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Filer on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 51 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Filer. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Filer walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Filer maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Filer choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
